Shocking SWAT raid captured on helmet cam raises questions (Video)

A terrifying helmet cam video, released to the public Wednesday, depicts a SWAT team executing a search warrant on the home of a 68-year-old woman and her 18-year-old adopted daughter. The video is raising questions of privacy, reasonable force and police due diligence. They had the wrong place.

The raid of Louise Milan and daughter Stephanie Milan’s Evansville, Ind. home was accompanied by the sound of shattering glass and multiple flash-bang grenades. It was all due to the Milan’s non-password protected Internet router, according to the Evansville Courier & Press.

The raid was prompted by a series of threatening posts directed at police chief Bolin. The officers left the Milan residence with the family’s computers and cell phones. An examination of there items revealed their innocence. A neighbor had tapped into their non-secure router to send the threats.

I think the IQ limit is more about racial quotas rather than job turnover.

I get more and more disgusted with the quality of police work across America everyday.

Bet thugs in the FBI, Homeland, and this administration planned on using militarized police power against conservatives, Tea Party members and the nonexistent lone wolves...

Unfortunately for liberal elites, Tea Party members aren't violent, conservative spend their time working at jobs and and lone wolves - with the exception of schizophrenics (who are mentally ill and reside in both parties) basically don't exist.

The people in our society who are violent and criminal are very much like the people we're seeing on TV who are being violent and criminal - the ones looting and burning stores.

But 'Homeland' had something right - it IS the anti-government ones... These Ferguson looters are violently fighting the group designated by law to protect us - the police. That's as anti-government as it gets.

Tea Party people are the one's standing on a corner (peacefully) holding a copy of the Constitution - the document that defines and created our Government. We - Conservatives - are the pro-Governement people.

Homeland - and the people who allow illegals to storm into our country are standing with the lawless. Does that make them criminals? Think about it LA Times.

A neighbor had tapped into their non-secure router to send the threats.

Let's just agree that there is a cautionary tale in this report for police and swat teams everywhere.

A national "False Swat Team Innocent victim fund" should be set up.
Take it out of the EBT budget...

Leftists love government oppression when it wielded against Conservatives - a prime example was their reaction to the IRS abuse.

Against them - Verboten!

Against the right - A Okay.

We should have a eye for a eye punishment for this kind abuse.

Those who authorize and conduct these kinds of raids should be randomly subjected to the same.

That might cause them to think twice about using those kinds of a tactics against others.

They were not merely “hanging around” they were looking around to see if they had anything worth disappearing.

And call me naive, but I didn’t realize until recently that some FReepers here would be their enablers, their informants.

Fortunately they were not armed when the police broke into their house or they’d be dead. This forced entry by cops for for non imminent threats must stop. Innocent people caught up in police mistakes for defending their home are being killed.

They had already rousted those poor people and now they were hanging out in their living room having a good joking about what happened, nice.

So professional. Not. Like some good old boys that had fun busting some things up...

We conservatives are smart enough to both walk and chew gum at the same time, and be critical of both over zealous jack booted storm troopers and of those that create the anarchy. Another fact is that peaceful demonstrations have in the past been infiltrated by the police to give them an excuse to knock heads.

Meanwhile the propagandists in our MSM (Fox or otherwise) who release all the info on the cop, (and citizens with CCW), typically refuse to tell us the race, ethnicity, and immigration status of perps unless they are Anglo Caucasian. The USA was purposely Balkanized so that the buttons of unrest and anarchy in our communities can be pushed whenever the propagandists feel so inclined to divide us further.

This “news” happened over two years ago, 21 June, 2012, and was extensively discussed on FR back then.

Perhaps we get the impression that these wrong house raids are happening all the time because articles about them keep recirculating.

I thought the facts seemed familiar, so I followed the links to the original source... over two years old.

The only way I see the situation changing is by the formation of truely independent Citizen Oversight Committees with access to a District Attorney or federal Prosecutor witth subpoena and arrest powers and with the ability to hold individuals personaly and financially liable for mistakes.

That information was right in the article, this is pertinent at the moment due to the events in Ferguson.

I also suspect the the lawsuit is the reason it’s come up again.

Never the less, just one of these ‘raids’ to the wrong place for dubious reasons is one too many.

Do we need to wait until there is a new video with deaths involved?
