You park your SUV in a space and you and your wife prepare to do some shopping. You open the door and a 300 pound jerk is near to the vehicle and he slams your door shut and yells at you and tells you to leave, and says your kind don't belong around here. You get out of the vehicle, and the jerk pushes you back into it, punches you in the face a few times, and for good measure, punches your wife in the mouth, splitting her lip. He walks away and you get out of your car, and you have your concealed weapon in hand. The jerk is about 35 feet away. He sees you and angrily yells that he told to leave and he's going to f... you up! He charges at you, and you only have a couple of seconds to decide. What would YOU do?
Call me a wuss, but given that I AM armed, I am not getting out of the vehicle after an encounter with an irrational person. 911 and let the cops handle it. Park somewhere else.
I wouldn’t call someone a wuss who avoids trouble. But, this is a specific scenario and has to be answered without changing the scenario.
Empty the clip into the rabid feral animal. Reload and do it again.

Demonstrated hostile intent, assaulted my person and my wife. As I am 6’4 280 we are fairly evenly matched. I take out the 2 foot length of solid brass out of my door rap him up side the head, when hes down i Drive the heel of my boot into his groin, Grab hold of his wrist step on his shoulder and rear back dislocating said shoulder give the arm a half twist, lock the elbow and drive down with all my weight. This should shatter the arm in several places. then pick up said brass bar and shatter both his knees. get in my vehicle and drive away. I wont kill the SOB but ill make sure he wont do it again to anyone else.
Acceptable of course, but that is not the scenario.

Some fool pulled me out of my car some years back because I honked at him when he turned left from the right lane and cut me off. At the next intersection while I was waiting for the light to turn, my car door was pulled open and I was being bodily yanked from the car. I grabbed a Phillips screwdriver from the seat next to me and embedded it up to the handle in the top of his shoulder. I never saw him or my engine grease covered screwdriver ever again.

I’ve had one exposure to an attempt to pull me from my car. I slammed the door on his arm. Car doors are locked as soon as I sit down in the car now. One other episode of a crackhead jumping into the passenger seat cured me of unlocked doors. Must’ve been hiding underneath the truck because I sure didn’t see him. Had a downtown office on the bleeding edge of gentrification for 12 years. Taught me a lot about dysfunctional people out in the world. Close the door on as much of that behavior as you can, and avoid the majority of these situations.
From the video, it appears MB’s “Move” is to Attack, leave, think about it, then turn around and threaten.
The cop gave his testimony before seeing the Surveillance video. He described what happened in the store almost exactly.
Faced with the situation you described I would go elsewhere OR have my handgun at the ready (even more so than usual).

Too many nasty and mean spirited answers! I would:
(1) Apologize for the things I had done that offended him and hurt his feelings. Even if I don’t know what I did wrong, or I’m sure it wasn’t me but someone who looked similar to me, his hurt feelings are real and that pain needs to be released.
(2) I’d let him give me a well-deserved whooping.
(3) Then, if I survived, I’d ask any nearby business owners who looked like me to allow people who looked like my attacker to loot their businesses calmly and peacefully without the need for riots. They owe it to those who feel aggrieved.

That's where I (and apparently many other posters) part company with the scenario. If I cannot exit my vehicle with suitable clearance I do not exit my vehicle. My vehicle is my first line of defense. It allows me a degree of armor against attack, it affords me means of escape if necessary, and it buys me time.
My first priority is my safety - I can't defend my wife/children/parents/etc if I am disabled. If the perp is already within the red zone then I would be a fool to exit my defensive parameter and confront. Once I've reestablished a safe zone then I can reassess the situation.
