A new round of looting and tense standoffs with pOlice ended early Saturday with no major clashes as the number of protesters gradually dwindled and pOlice retreated from the streets in a drizzling rain.
This is wonderful. This is what should have happened a long time ago, Robert Powell, 42, said as he watched looters during the night hop through the shattered glass door of a meat market.
He dismissed the looters as "suburban nerds" likely to get busted. But after years of living in a town in which he said African American men are singled out for harsh treatment by the pOlice, he shared the looters frustration.
He gestured to surrounding businesses, whose fluorescent lights were now shattered, their parking lots strewn with broken bottles.
"They support these pOlice, give them free food. People just got tired of it," he said.
Powell blamed the Ferguson pOlice chief's handling of information about Brown released Friday for setting off the unrest.

Amen!
If the Tea Party did anything remotely close to this it would be called Terrorism and the National Guard would be called in and start shooting.
“Loot at any excuse. That is the way to be respected. Dont get educated. That is the way to be respected. Talk stupidly. That is the way to be respected”
Meanwhile, the Democrat’s “FREE SCH*T!!” Army keeps growing, and those of us paying for it keep shrinking in number.
Go up to DC....to the southeast neighborhood of Anacosta. First you notice...there are very few grocery stores or convenience stores. You might have to drive four or five miles....in a urban area....to find one, and then you notice that everything is twenty-percent more than it would be over across the river in Virginia.
For years, the DC city council has been trying to entice grocery store operations to go and settle up in the southeast...but they won’t touch the deals offered. Basically, they want around the clock cop protection, and the city won’t provide that.
If this dip-shiite thought things were bad before....
Better than food stamps.
I think it was a typo, transposed the numbers...
I live on a golf course in the woods down south. Not a lot of diversity and everyone has one or more guns. I cannot imagine the circumstances that might cause a riot here. I bet we could pacify a zombie apocalypse by noontime on Day 1.
Yep - nothing like lashing out at those who had nothing to do with a perceived injustice in order to achieve justice. Just like the idiots who claim nobody is illegal - bet they'd react different if those poor immigrants decided to squat on their property and utilize their assets...
See how he feels in a year when he’s living in a ghost town with half the business that existed last week.
sorry, it’s now po-po
I need a riot closer to San Diego, so I can upgrade my computer and TV.
Tht picture is vivd proof that the private ownership of belt fed, fully automatic weapons should be freely permitted to law abiding citizens.
Mr. Powell, if you don’t think you are treated fairly, we could sendyou back to where you might have fair treatment...Zimbabwe.
Oh irony. Complaining of ‘free food’ given to the pOlice but EBT is just fine. I tell you what, I’m sick of giving welfare layabout free food! Justice in the liquor store? Put a wall around these cities and let them make their own utopia. I am sick of the entitlement mentality.
Don’t forget April 15 is tax day.
Now, the area is gentrifying, so Shop Rite is looking to open a store there.
When a guy moves out of there into a nicer area the justice dept comes along and says its unfair and proceeds to move the criminals into the nicer area. Ya can’t get away from the criminals.
Article says he owns a cleaning service. Maybe he’s thinking he’ll get a lot of business when this is over. Bet he’s trashing his own building so the insurance will rebuild him a nice new building.
I couldn’t agree more!
