A Travis County grand jury Friday indicted Gov. Rick Perry on two charges related to his effort last year to force District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg to resign after her drunken driving arrest.

I am not a dedicated supporter to Rick Perry. This is just political and heavy handed dirty politics. It is such a shameful dirty abuse of power. Perry is going to have to get tough and not back down, like Scot Walker had to do. This is the same dirty politics and abuse of power as we seen that caused Sarah Palin to leave the governorship. Same old tactics. I’m on Perry’s side on this one.
Also indicted Kaye Bailey Hutchinson before she became Senator on corruption charges. IIRC it was for using a phone in her office for campaign purposes.
But it’s been quite some time and I am a little hazy on the specifics.
Yeah but, he showed em a real nice two step...
It would require a constitutional amendment. They've got the votes to put it on the ballot...I don't know why the haven't done so.
We don't want them. Most of California is Conservative, just the coast counties with tons of immigrants from the East and south of the border are Liberal. Imagine if I were to visit only Austin, and no where else in Texas, and come to the conclusion that the entire state of Texas was Liberal based on that.
Actually I see this as a desperate attempt to cling to power from a corrupt dem who finally had to face a rep who WOULD play hardball. And, God love him, he’s fighting back instead of laying down.
Drunk as an ever lovin’ skunk, she was. She could barely stand upright while the officers were trying to perform a field sobriety test.
I know that there are a lot of conservatives in CA. I have friends in that beautiful state, see it here...heck the owner of the site is there.
But maybe we could annex Austin with San Francisco? You would never even know they were there. ;)
Perry should make a dental appointment, tell Duhurst to assume the duties of the governor while Perry is under the influence of NO2, have Durhurst pardon Perry, then when he attains full consciousness, resume the governorship. Tell the Travis country district attorney to kiss his arse.
If she had been a Pub...she would still be in jail.
But that is how Austin rolls.
Travisty county, just ask Tom Delay. Texas AJ should move case out of lib San Antonio and Travisty county.
GOP statehouse and legislature should pass some laws against corrupt no basis political prosecutions. Big penalties, fines, and allowing personal libel suits for wronged individuals.
Tom Delay should get millions of dollars for the destruction of his career and life. Instead of Tom we got Boner as GOP speaker.
Asstown is in Travesty County and yes it is the same.
Interesting conflict of interest that the Travis County DA initiates a attack on Perry for trying to hold her accountable for her actions.
I seem to remember that the rules clearly state she should have been forced to resign after her DWI. Not to mention the attempted intimidation.
It will be real interesting to see what happens as Austin is going to single member city counsel districts. Right now a small group of leftists vote and run the city.
One other thing was that if Lehmberg had resigned, Perry would have picked the new DA and suddenly, the Dihm’s might have began to face some scrutiny for some of their evil for the first time in eons.
“deLay should get millions of dollars...”
Without a doubt.
Good plan!
“But... because he threatened to use his veto before actually doing so in an attempt to pressure Lehmberg to quit so the lefties claim that Gov. Perry’s actual act of integrity is a crime.”
Local news here just reported that Perry was being investigated by the Public Integrity Unit at the time he vetoed their already legislature approved funds.
Not a big Perry fan my any means. I’ll certainly stand with the guy on this one.
Perry was never going to be the nominee of the pubbie party. I am not saying he is a bad man he simply doesn’t fire an emotional response from the voters. Couple that with his debate performances in 2012 and I can see the dim ads now.
