Poland put on its biggest military parade in years Friday to mark its annual armed forces holiday, with the president saying the violence in Ukraine shows that conflict is still a "brutal reality" in Eastern Europe and Poland must be able to defend itself.

Fighter jets and military helicopters flew over Warsaw as tanks rolled through the capital. More than 1,000 Polish soldiers marched, joined by dozens of U.S. and Canadian troops who are in Poland for NATO exercises.

The parade came on the Aug. 15 holiday that honors a stunning Polish victory against Russian Bolsheviks in 1920.

Haha going to war in Afghanistan against the Taliban who were using leftover obsolete weapons! I would love to see the French and Italians going to war against Russia.

Like I said, Europe can not afford to lose energy supplies from Russia. Europe is still mired in a recession. A war with Russia will be disastrous.

Next thing is to move them to Kaliningrad and have one of those “referendums”

Did you know we had a bear in our army? He was at Monte Cassino by the way...
How more badass can an army be? :D :D

Red Poppies on Monte Cassino

D’you see those ruins on the hill top?
There your foe hides like a rat!
You must, you must, you must
Grab his neck and cast him from the clouds!
And they went, heedless of danger
And they went, to kill and avenge
And they went stubborn as ever,
As always - for honour - to fight.

Refrain:
Red poppies on Monte Cassino
Instead of dew, drank Polish blood.
As the soldier crushed them in falling,
For the anger was more potent than death.
Years will pass and ages will roll,
But traces of bygone days will stay,
And the poppies on Monte Cassino
Will be redder having quaffed Polish blood.

They charged through fire like madmen,
Countless were hit and fell,
Like the cavalry at Samosierra,
Like the men at Rokitno years ago.
They attacked with fury and fire,
And they got there. They climbed to the top,
And their white and scarlet standard
They placed on the ruins ‘midst clouds.

Refrain:
Red Poppies on Monte Cassino.......

D’you see this row of white crosses?
Polish soldiers did honour there wed.
The further you go, the higher,
The more of such crosses you’ll meet.
This soil was won for Poland,
Though Poland is far away,
For Freedom is measured in crosses
When history from justice does stray.

Refrain:
Red poppies on Monte Cassino
Instead of dew, drank Polish blood.
As the soldier crushed them in falling,
For the anger was more potent than death.
Years will pass and ages will roll,
But traces of bygone days will stay,
And the poppies on Monte Cassino
Will be redder having quaffed Polish blood.

I know it in Polish my friend:
Czy widzisz te gruzy na szczycie?
Tam wróg Twoj się kryje jak szczur!

Funny thing Matt, is that we do have a working nuclear reactor with enriched uranium that is in production since 1970's. I just wonder how much enriched uranium we do have. How come our politicians do not use it as bargaining card.? Having an A-bomb would definitely stir the s**t-up, Russians would either feel unsecure and attack us straight away or they would back off. This sitaution is already known to the world - vide: India-Pakistan relations.
I do not want to sound like a war monger but what Putin is doing right now is dangerously reminding me of 1930's and the actions taken by an Austrian painter with a funny moustache. :/ Either we stop him now or we'll have another war-hungry monster at our door.
Best regards to you.

Believe it or not I had heard of this bear! Apparently he was quite fond of drinking beer I cannot imagine from whom he learned that habit.
