ST. LOUIS • Minority officers sounded off for more than two hours Wednesday before the police department’s highest-ranking black commanders about issues they believe illustrate racism within the ranks and the need for reform. But those commanders blamed some of the issues on unmotivated officers.
About 30 members of the Ethical Society of Police packed the organization’s office for the special meeting convened to call black commanders to action in the wake of a racist letter sent to a black police officer, presumably by another officer in South Patrol.
The group’s president, Sgt. Darren Wilson, said last week that the racist note was symptomatic of a larger, citywide problem. About a third of the 1,325-member police force is African-American; the city it serves is almost equally divided between black and white residents.
“If you’re treating a police department employee like this, how are we treating our citizens?” Wilson asked.
Wilson opened Wednesday’s meeting by saying black leaders must do more to increase the number of black commanders on the force by reforming the promotional process.
Wilson said he had told Chief Sam Dotson not to attend because Wilson wanted to have an open dialogue.

Sure, let’s implement a policy of having police depts “reflect the community”, but only if the same program is implemented in majority-white communities also.

That would be a great idea..Why not make all the police force black..wonder how long it would be until it looks like Detroit or even Chicago the black would pay for it not the whites more than likely the whites would move out of the area and it would become a Ghetto..and the whites would be safer..Now I am also saying the good blacks should move out too,since they would be targeted when the whites leave and would be robbed, raped, and murdered..
The whites have already mostly moved out the area, in a very short time span-Ferguson went from 25% black in 1990 to 67% black today.
Another point that WSJ editoral brought up today is that turnover tends to be low due to how the tenure/pension system is structured. If this is the case, are those police officers willing to forego that job security for more of this type of adaptability?
I did my homework, according to Citydata.com, the population of Ferguson is 21,000 and its 67% black!
Yet...they have a white police chief and white cop involved in the shooting.
That’s the problem! There’s no reason for that town to have a white police chief or any white cops. But we see this play out all over the US; its stupid! What self respecting white cop would want to take a job in a place like that?
I blame the white police chief for not having found a job in a more appropriate location and I really blame the white cop; he shouldn’t have ever been there. This insanity needs to end.

Just re-write the laws so that a majority must follow ONE set of rules and groups who are ‘favored in the law’ can follow some OTHER set of rules. :)
I can get on board with a policy of the police, fire, etc depts “reflecting the community”, but as I said, only if that same policy also applies in majority-white communities-the ones which are now forced to lower hiring standards to accommodate minorities who don’t meet them. Of course, the left is hard at work making sure that there no “majority white” communities through Section 8, Agenda 21, and other social engineering.

Unfortunately you cannot parody this stuff. Gaza is the prototype for an area of land whose inhabitants yearn for lawlessness. Any attempt to have a normal town or city is beaten down and ousted. All those people in Gaza who are complaining about Isreal bombing them now enable the terrorists who initiate the bombing. Similar situation in a lot of US cities...so drive whitey out and that will solve all of their problems.
That being the case,the protests will stop.
