WASHINGTON, D.C. Some 500 former military leaders are deploying to Capitol Hill in an attempt to save Michelle Obamas changes to the National School Lunch Program.
Politico reports:
Mission: Readiness, a group of nearly 500 former military leaders, is planning to storm the Hill when Congress comes back to town next month and urge lawmakers to keep new school nutrition standards intact.
Were not going to retreat our way out of the problem, said Lt. Gen. Norman Seip, who served in the Air Force for 35 years and is now a vocal advocate for the group.
(snip)
While that certainly a worthy concern, some people with common sense would question what overhauling school lunches would have to do with curbing obesity. Based on a 180-day school year, a school lunch amounts to 15 percent of a childs meals.
And, as parent Pamela Paulsen tells the Chicago Tribune, Childhood obesity isnt what happens between 7 and 3 (oclock).
Shes right. Proper eating habits are instilled by responsible parents, not one-size-fits-all government edicts.

Shouldn't our porous (completely nonexistence) border more worthy concerns for these 500 former military leaders?

Since when is it the business of the Air Force what I eat? The government for that matter?

The core issue is NOT patriotism, general. The kids don't like the new menu and throw the food away.
Food Patriotism. Tax Patriotism. Pregnancy Patriotism. Orwellian Patriotism.

This is right after they ‘storm the hill’ for VA hospital improvements for their own.

These guys are politicians first, and soldiers (defenders of the Constitution against enemies, both foreign and domestic) last.

While that certainly a worthy concern, some people with common sense would question what overhauling school lunches would have to do with curbing obesity
Others of us would question where the federal government gets the authority to dictate the lunch menu served in local schools.

Same thing, my point is why is it anyone’s business regardless of the prior position.
To: Sir Napsalot
Or maybe they’ll ‘storm the hill’ to get every overseas serviceman’s vote counted?

Five hundred busy body A-holes should worry about an out of control government that controls bake sales and lemonade stands. I bet it would take all 500 of these ass clowns to lift Mrs Moo Moo out of bed.

Apparently not. It is for your own good.
(More excerpt from Politico)
Its not conservative common sense or liberal common sense; its just plain common sense, said Seip on having strong school nutrition standards.
In addition to its food work, Mission: Readiness is working to get more physical education back into schools and promote safe walkways to and from schools.
What is their next goal?

I don’t know, those on board with Michelle O may wish to count only Dem votes.

Or the homsexualization and general pu**ification of our curent military? I know that concerns me a helluva lot more than Sasquatch's lunch program.

I never got this. School lunches consisted of a sandwich, fruit, drink and 2 cookies for years. How they evolved is unknown. But the real problem is no exercise. Schools have eliminated much of the activities that burn off calories. Bring those back and problem solves
To: Resolute Conservative
It’s not anyone’s business, just pointing out that it wasn’t active duty folks...
The military is a reflection of society as a whole, plenty of liberals in the ranks...that these liberals would then attempt to use their prior positions in the military as some kind of influencing factor speaks volumes about liberals in general.
