The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) plans to spend up to $450,000 in taxpayer dollars to teach Native American tribes in the Great Basin region ”climate adaptation plans” for their hunting, fishing and gathering activities.

“Due to climate change, the natural landscapes are becoming impacted,” and the “traditional practices for hunting, fishing, and gathering for ceremonial purposes” can potentially create further impacts,” according to BLM’s Cooperative Agreement announcement.

So what exactly is the defintion of “climate change”?

The definition is one of the world's semantic wonders. To me, an AGW "denier," it means quite literally that climate changes -- which it does. Climate change is what happens to climate over long periods of time, hundreds to millions of years.

To the "sustainability /Agenda 21" crowd it has multiple ominous political definitions. With the willing help of the media it's become shorthand for "human-caused 'global warming,'" and the multitude of terrible things it's supposed to bring: earthquakes, hurricanes/typhoons, rapidly-rising sea levels, forest fires, parched farmlands, hemorrhoids, bad breath, sexual impotence: whatever scary things they decide are needed to herd the sheeple into a totalitarian global socialist pen tended by the U.N.

The Dems are very good at playing emotion driven politics (e.g., war on women, global warming, sustainability, the one percent, shutting down the government, etc.). They feed off of fear, resentment and jealousy to accomplish their socialist objectives exactly as you described above. Great reply by the way.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

This type of spending is such a good example of what is wrong with the modern administrative Welfare State. It just creaks along, rolling out new silly, useless spending programs for the sake of spending. There is some bureaucrat somewhere whose job depends on finding a way to spend $450,000 so he puts this nonsense program together. There probably are a bunch of Indian “environmental consultants” or consultants who somehow achieved “Indian” status who are politically connected who are going to get the money.

This spending really has nothing to do with climate change. Its the same as the spending to teach male prostitutes to avoid HIV or the Cowboy Museum or the grants to teach kids about self esteem. They are useless spending for the sake of spending. They each are small amounts but add up to huge amounts and contribute to the deficit. Until we wholesale eliminate departments, this nonsense will continue.

How did they survive this long trekking across the landscape during seasonal changes?
My gosh, we better make sure they have fluffy pillows and soft beds too!

None, they've been coddled and spend all their money in their own Casinos.
I've had this discussion with many in Casinos who blame the "White Devil"
for their situation while gambling their own future away.

As a Native American myself , let me say that this is more wasted tax money folly. That being said, it is a drop in the bucket to the BILLIONS we give to our enemies in nations that hate our guts and the United Nations organization that always votes against us and Israel. So, any bitchers here, direct you bitches at the proper target.

Like I said. A mere pittance in the overall folly of govt “help” being doled out.

Should the govt be ponying up any money? Should the govt be dictating to ‘soveriegn nations’ how to conduct their affairs? The Indians are separate nations. Many have casinos but they have no compulsion to share those casino profits with poorer tribes. Some of their own tribes are literally ‘voted off the reservation’ to limit sharing. If the govt is going to interfer, shouldn’t it be in the direction of encouraging casino profit-sharing between all Indians, especially since more and more state governments are extending the casino privileges to terms of 100 years ? Shouldn’t there be guidelines on how much of the casino profits need to be used to improve standards of living for all tribes?

Aloha long lost friend. lol, Iselle completely fell apart at hitting the Big Island so did not have a heavy effect on Maui. Some rain and trees on the powerlines but here at the farm , no damage , not loss of anything. Julio swung back east and north and is totally missing all the islands so far. Looking good. I’m out of here on Wednesday for N. Calif and the Klamath river salmon run. Go every year for a month. Glad the storm are over for my flight out. Take care. M.

Eco-weenies are okay with native Americans being permitted to kill several bald eagles a year for ceremonial purposes.
Any other group would have the ASPCA and wildlife groups up in arms for killing animals in sacrifice, let alone endangered species.
******************************
Absolutely no reason to continue to permit American Indians to kill eagles to get feathers for their rites. Enterprising Amerinds should be able to just gather all the eagle feathers they want from the ones that are killed by the wind farms near areas where eagles habitate. They could then sell the feathers to Amerinds all over the country.

Demagoguery and spending other people's money is all they're good at. I'm ashamed for our species when Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi can stand up before the American people and get away with telling the most incredible bald-faced lies, day after day.
