Brooklyn, Iowa The battle for control of the U.S. Senate could come down to a dispute between two neighbors in this heartland hamlet over four plump, wander-prone hens.
This spring, Pauline Hamptons chickens roamed onto Bruce and Carolyn Braleys vacation property on tranquil Holiday Lake. Hampton said she did not know this until she walked over one day to offer Carolyn a dozen fresh eggs. To which she said her neighbor replied, We arent going to accept your eggs and we have filed a formal complaint against you.
Carolyn took her complaint to their neighborhood homeowners association board meeting in May. Her husband, Bruce, then called the associations lawyer, Thomas Lacina, to say that he believed chickens are not pets and should not be permitted at Holiday Lake, and that he wanted to avoid a litigious situation, according to an e-mail Lacina wrote. Braley denied that he threatened a lawsuit.
Regardless, Hampton relented and built a wire fence in her back yard to contain the chickens. No harm, no fowl in the Braleys yard, at least.

the point is would you make an official complaint or ask the neighbor in a mature manner to keep the chickens in their own yard?
Would you make an official complaint or deal with this issue as a mature adult and ask your neighbor first to keep their chickens in their yard>
Guess you wouldn't like these neighbors.
I would welcome 4 chickens in my subdivision......I don't see what the big deal is.
They certainly can't be any more problem than a half dozen free ranging squirrels..........
This did happen to us. We asked the neighbor to come look at our problem with roaming chickens and a turkey. Upon refusing to do anything saying it was OUR problem, the next time they were in the yard I let a shot from the shotgun off which was a warning shot but it took that to get her serious about keeping them in her yard (and she used my easy fix). She also called the sheriff who paid us a visit and could only tell us to be careful as it was a legal shot!! Good chicken fences make good neighbors, haaaa!
(Braley’s ads in Des Moine) tried to tie Joni Earnst with the Koch brothers and Sarah Palin.

Like people in Iowa are really losing sleep over the Koch Brothers. Geesh!
Braley and his wacko wife, are unbelievably stupid politically. It’s almost like: “OK, what stupid thing can we do next to sabotage my Senate campaign?” And, yes; they are both a-holes.
Re: Your Post #11: Did you forget the “sarcasm” tag? Surely you’re not serious.
We dont want no eggs from CHICKENS! We get ours at the store!

Now, that really did make me LOL!
But, the problem is Braley is a public figure and he is curently running for an office held only by 100 people in this nation. His wife should have been more graceful and tactful. She is nuts. (Well, so is he for that matter.)
Mightn't one say the exact same about the seat's current occupant -- Sen. Tom Harkin?
Understandable, but..... well... Please see Post #72.
Haha, excellent. When they start laughing at you you’re finished.
Unquestionably.
Why did the chicken cross the road? To help Republicans win control of the U.S. Senate.

I totally agree, it’s a rotten thing to do to go to the law rather than talking to your neighbor.
My neighbors with the irritating chickens don’t speak English and they’re not allowed to have them in the city limits, but I wouldn’t turn them into the law.

They don’t speak English, unfortunately!
They also have an irritating yappy dog that barks more than dogs are allowed to bark, but I try to just let it go.

And the Democrats' 'War on Women' continues unabated.
