Hamas staged a "victory rally" on Thursday in Gaza, as the future of a three-day ceasefire remains uncertain.
Hundreds of Palestinians poured onto the streets of Gaza City, chanting support for "resistance" against Israel, an AFP reporter said.
Loudspeakers mounted by the roadside blared out Hamas victory songs as the crowd - most of them men but with some children dressed in combat fatigues and carrying toy guns - gathered in the square outside the parliament building.
A huge Palestinian flag hung behind a podium where speakers whipped up the crowd with chants of victory on the eve of the scheduled expiry of a 72-hour truce with Israel.
Most marchers carried the green flag of Hamas.
"We have won the military battle and with the permission of God we'll win the political battle," Hamas MP Mushir al-Masri told the crowd.
"Resistance, resistance, resistance!" chanted the demonstrators.
Four weeks of fighting between Islamist terrorists and Israel killed more than 1,880 Palestinians, roughly half of whom are terrorists according to the IDF. Hamas claims the majority were civilians.
One of the few women at the rally told AFP her home had been destroyed in the Israeli bombardment.
"I have come here today to tell the whole world we are with the resistance. We have only two options: dignity or death, so we chose dignity," she said, refusing to give her name and wearing a headscarf and a long dress.

Pretty good indication that Hamas is backing off the attacks, for now, without any of the concessions that Obama was trying to get for them. Why else would they feel the need to declare public victory?

I also hope Israel isn’t pulling out too soon.
Israel is always trying to show massive restrain because they are constantly getting chewed out by the media and leadership of the world for everything they do. If they do pull out too soon though, it will only be a matter of time before Hamas is at it again, and probably with more weapons than before. *sigh*

I concur.
What victory rally, they LOST.
To Arabs, they won. They survived the Israelis.
Then Israel would be in an all-out war with every Arab country - a war they could not win without resorting to nuclear weapons.
Israel will never commit genocide, or ethnic cleansing, or anything of the sort. Having been the victims of it, they won’t do it.

So, the alternative to dignity is humiliation.
Humiliation is unacceptable.
This is the box that Islam puts them in.
They know no other way out.
