Russia will ban all imports of food from the United States and all fruit and vegetables from Europe, the state news agency reported on Wednesday, a sweeping response to Western sanctions imposed over its support for rebels in Ukraine.
The measures will hit consumers at home who rely on cheap imports, and on farmers in the West for whom Russia is a big market. Moscow is by far the biggest buyer of European fruit and vegetables and the second biggest importer of U.S. poultry.

You are correct...But you have to see that this will have an effect on those things we need the “rare earth elements” for...
But hey...In the long run it very well may not be that much of an impact...
Someone will make a deal, somewhere, somehow, someway...
The almighty $$$$, yen, pounds, francs, dinars, rubles, etc etc etc, will always triumph...
Ohhh, forgot the Pesos and Pasetas...Muh bad...
“You believe everything your government tells you? “
I’m with you. Russia has PLENTY OF OPTIONS now. The 3rd World is not even close to what it was even 20 years ago - HUGE MARKETS now and Russia will move that way.
Well, this will raise prices for ordinary Russians and put pressure on those businesses in Russia that export to the US. Trade wars hurt everyone and Putin will learn that lesson.
Hopefully, most of what the Russians import is bacon and prices will slide.
That would be foolish without a central plan and a cadre of experts to implement it.
Americans don’t eat chicken legs and thighs and they are exported at cheap prices to get rid of them.
It is not just Russia that buys them.
Titanium does come to mind. I did a quick search and found that the leading countries for titanium production include Japan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and China.
This is going to hit the ag sector pretty hard. Though to be fair, Russia has had a long term goal to make all of their foodstuffs at home for a decade now. The issue was quality, and they have made great advances in that.
Good, given food price inflation it might be nice to have more supply heare at home.
That was when America had leaders that cared about America and its values and a more robust manufacturing sector...
~I wouldn’t exactly call kumys beer... more of a “sparkling”, watery buttermilk. More medicinal than beverage, but then I say the same thing about vodka ;-)~
Kumys ranges from softdrink to about 20% vol.
Well that’s it.....I’m boycotting the “Trolololo” video.

BTW, titanium is extremely difficult to work on and Russia has the most expertise about it.
Most of Boeing’s (both civilian and military) titatium components are coming from VSMPO, Co of Russia as a ready parts, fully manufactured there and imported back to USA.
This exact company builds for Russian Navy and Air Force at the same facilities.
But it is an outstanding substance to use for neat things...
Re-usuable spacecraft comes to mind...A honeycomb undersurface and skin bleeds off heat very nicely...
Just a knee jerk thought...;-)
Commies have built a fast-attack submarines back to the 1970s using titanium alloy. Just imagine the cost of these being built in a market, not a command economy.
So that mean that those black market Beatles records are making comeback LOL!
A lot of countries have stopped accepting our GMO grown grains and such. It sits in warehouses and rots or we pay our farmers to not grow anything.
“They need to start creating giant state farms or something! That should work. lol”
You mean like Archer-Daniels-Midland, Cargill, or Pilgrim’s Pride do?
you kiddin' or trolling ? :)
a unique cayenne pepper seasoned mostly dark meat fried chicken is a Nashville, Tennessee specialty. iow, something that is et in your neck of the woods.
dark chicken meat is actually more nutritious than white & the fat makes it more tasty.
less exported just means more for us folks that eat good.
