Frustration over stalled immigration action doesn’t mean Obama can act unilaterally (WashPost)
Washington Post ^ | August 5, 2014 | Editorial Board

Posted on 08/06/2014 3:18:02 PM PDT by Brad from Tennessee

STYMIED BY congressional paralysis, President Obama is reportedly considering unilateral action to address — though surely not fix — the nation’s immigration policy mess and the more recent surge of minors streaming across the southwestern border.

The president’s frustration is understandable. Faced with a genuine humanitarian crisis, Congress’s failure to pass a workable fix is unconscionable. In the Republican-controlled House, the GOP bowed to its most extreme lawmakers in passing measures that have zero chance of becoming law — and would have paved the way for deportations of blameless young people raised in this country after being brought here by their undocumented parents. In the Senate, the intransigence of both parties yielded no bill at all.

Obstinate, hopelessly partisan and incapable of problem-solving, Congress is a mess. But that doesn’t grant the president license to tear up the Constitution. As Mr. Obama himself said last fall: “If, in fact, I could solve all these problems without passing laws in Congress, then I would do so. But we’re also a nation of laws.” To act on his own, the president said, would violate those laws. . .

More praise than criticism for Obama as the Post helps him back out of mass amnesty by fiat, for the time being.

At last week's House Judiciary hearing on immigration, it was revealed that immigrants from 144 countries have slipped over the border into the US.

THIS NEEDS TO GO VIRAL: Obama rubber-stamper Leon Rodriguez, an attorney, oversees the legitimization of the border swarm. Moreover, Rodriguez administers EB-5 visas as head of UCIS (A DHS agency).....EB-5's are said to involve major threats to US national security.

===============================================

BACKSTORY In an earlier statement----citing a Homeland Security Investigations memo----Sen Charles Grassley said the oversight federal agency ICE identified key vulnerabilities in EB-5 visas:

1) Export of sensitive technology/economic espionage.

2) Use by foreign government agents/espionage.

3) Use by terrorists.

4) Investment fraud by regional center.

5) Investment fraud by investors.

6) Fraud conspiracies by investors and regional center.

7) Illicit finance/money laundering.

==================================================

Rodriguez's confirmation hearings revealed he was a board member of Casa Maryland---a latino-centric advocacy group---pushing for unlimited immigration, and has connections to nationwide immigrant groups.

Supboena official filings, phone records, emails, snail mail copies, hard drives, bank accounts, checking accounts, credit cards, debit cards, wire transfers, social media contacts, and the like.

<><> Taxpayers demand to know if govt factotums like Rodriguez, and the aforementioned tax-funded groups, are consorting with violent organizations advocating the overthrow of the US govt.

“the nation’s immigration policy mess”

*******

Directly attributable to King Urkel refusing to enforce existing immigration laws on the books while the GOPe turns a blind eye as they perform Lewinksys for Chamber of Commerce cash.

Vote-crazed Obama's agit-prop is that he's the global savior, helping the swarms at the border "fleeing to the shelter of the US from violent drug cartels"

=================================================

REALITY CHECK At last Tuesday's House Judiciary hearing on immigration, CONG LOUIE GOHMERT (REP-TX) had this eye-opening exchange with the Obama appointee rubber-stamping illegals into the US:

GOHMERT: WRT drug cartels paid $6000 each to "guide" the hordes over the border---"Would you, as a former prosecutor, call them criminals?" Gohmert nonchalantly asked Obama appointee, Leon Rodriguez--now heading a DHS agency.

The smirking Rodriguez stepped headlong into the trap as Cong Gohmert casually hoisted him on his own petard.....making the point that if the hordes were coming here to escape drug cartels, why is it they are consorting w/ the nasty criminals, and are paying the violent breed to accompany them over the border?

Definitely not the behavior of someone in mortal fear, "forced" to escape to the US for protection. More likely, the swarm is in collusion w/ the cartels. Better check those backpacks.

What is the function of the House of Representatives?

Why do all 435 of them have to face the voters every 2 years?

Is there any evidence that they are not performing as designed?

This notion, now repeated by WaPo, that the "Republican House" is somehow illegitimate because they don't do what Obama wants is completely ass-backwards.

And, the way is paved for mass deportations by the existing actual laws which were passed by both houses and signed by the President over many years. THE LAWS ARE WHAT'S LEGITIMATE. It's Obama's and the Democrats defiance and subversion of the laws, with the cooperation of the GOPe, that's the problem.

Right. We have a president taking Peronist dictatorial actions and the Post issues a “we understand but technically you are wrong” editorial. I would think that the media should be concerned about this but hey, it’s what they want so who can get too worked up?

The WaPo sounds like “Please, please, please? Can we have a dictator? Pretty please?”

If King Erkel does grant amnesty it could be a god thing. We may not have to wait another two and a half years to get rid of him. Thing will get very messy very fast. It would be great to see him playing defense every last hour of his kingship.

The Post waited until the White House decided to temporarily hold back on mass amnesty after calculating more votes would be lost than won in November. But Obama is fomenting a constitutional crisis simply by blocking agencies from enforcing existing laws. I don't want to see him impeached. I want to see him indicted by a U.S. attorney and a federal grand jury.

I agree with all those who say that amnesty and the open borders pose the biggest danger to the survival of the USA. Obama must passionately hate this country to push for such suicidial acts.

I would point out to the WaPo that the House, each and every single member, was elected at the SAME time as was he. The action of the House is a more representative measure of the Peoples choice than his own agenda. We The People voted for gridlock, his “my way or else” rhetoric notwithstanding. If his nibs wants a bill then he must compromise. And that means the border First. We tried it their was once and they lied.

No mention of the 2012 backdoor Dreamer amnesty. It is the real reason why we are being flooded by minors. The 2008 law is not the cause.

"...refusing to enforce existing immigration laws on the books while the GOPe turns a blind eye as they perform Lewinksys for Chamber of Commerce cash."

And as if that isn't enough, they advertise far and wide that our borders are open and invite all comers with presumed amnesty.

” Faced with a genuine humanitarian crisis”

WHAT “humanitarian crisis”?
They aren’t our problem!
Send them home!
The ONLY reason they are there to begin with is “ freebies, gimmees, they have been told by D.C. to flout the law” and “Obama’s stash”.

Maybe unilateral action by Obama would be a good thing if it stiffened the spines of House members and led to impeachment.

They’re afraid to come out and criticize their Holy One openly, so they start off by blaming the Republicans and then throw up some gushing praise for Obama’s “good intentions,” but make no mistake, this still reveals the unease Obama is causing even in the left with his dictatorial actions.

I think they want to distance themselves from him, but at the same time, they’re afraid that if they do that too overtly, they’ll end up on his enemies list. And that’s not a good place to be if you run a business. Or even if you don’t.

Since both of them are controlled by the Executive Branch you are going to be waiting a long time.
