Israel withdraws most troops from Gaza

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) -- Israel withdrew most of its ground troops from the Gaza Strip on Sunday in an apparent winding down of the nearly monthlong operation against Hamas that has left more than 1,800 Palestinians and more than 60 Israelis dead.

Even as Israel said it was close to completing its mission, heavy fighting raged in parts of Gaza, with at least 10 people killed in what U.N. and Palestinian officials said was an Israeli airstrike near a U.N. shelter. The United States lashed out at Israel, saying it was "appalled" by the "disgraceful" attack.

And with Hamas officials vowing to continue their fight, it remained uncertain whether Israel could unilaterally end the war.

Israel launched its military operation in Gaza on July 8 in response to weeks of heavy rocket fire, carrying out hundreds of airstrikes across the crowded seaside territory. It then sent in ground forces July 17 in what it said was a mission to destroy the tunnels used by Hamas to carry out attacks.

Hamas has fired more than 3,000 rockets into Israel during what has turned into the bloodiest round of fighting ever between the two enemies.

Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, an Israeli military spokesman, confirmed the bulk of ground troops had been pulled out of Gaza after the military concluded it had destroyed most of the tunnel network.

He said Israel had detected some 30 tunnels that were dug along the border for what he called a "synchronized attack" on Israel.

"We've caused substantial damage to this network to an extent where we've basically taken this huge threat and made it minimal," he said. The army had thousands of troops in Gaza at the height of the operation.

I understand that this Republic, as it was constituted, is now dead, and only a second civil war may restore it to its former iteration, if at all.

1.) They constantly refer to America as being a “democracy” - a notoriously corrupting lie that is diametrically opposed to the stated purpose of our founders;

2.) That they consistently diminish the primary purpose of the Second Amendment - to serve as a bulwark against government tyranny, and the final “check and balance” to which the American people have their last recourse. Rather the ruling class continues to misrepresent the purpose as being hunting, sport shooting, and personal self-defense ...

I understand that they have willingly collaborated to destroy our sovereign currency - first by subversion through fiat, and then through skillfully planned inflationary-deflationary cycles that systematically devalue the buying power of the Dollar ...

I understand that the same oligarchs labor to destroy thrift and encourage a superficial materialism, under the pretense that the resultant institutionalized debt structure is legitimate to a properly organized capitalist economy ...

I understand that the oligarchs systematically raise taxes on the productive, doing so through a plethora of immoral devices that operate both in plain sight and hidden, while they simultaneously reward and perpetuate sloth ...

I understand that, in doing all these things, the ruling class creates the “first crisis,” which provides the desired separation of the parents’ influence from their children ...

I understand that all these devices have gathered to an evil confluence that requires both husband and wife to work, and thus provides the greater opportunity for government to affect subversion and Marxist indoctrination of the children ... Which,in turn, gives impulse and inertia to conflict and discontent ... Which, in turn, undermines the principle of subsidiarity and brings about the destruction of, first the nuclear family, and then society itself through the advocacy of the welfare state ...

I understand that this plan is affected so to replace the husband-father as the provider-protector of the family, and similarly disenfranchise the mother as the nurturer-instructor of sound morals to their offspring. With the traditional nuclear family subverted and religion pushed out of the public square, the state then deifies itself and justifies its tyranny on the pretense that only the state possesses the resources and capability to care for the massive dependency class it purposely created ...

I understand that the ruling class foments and propagates every manner of perversion upon our culture - including: the destruction of innocence; the impugning and marginalization of modesty; the mockery of the Christian religion; the promotion, protection and celebration of gross debauchery; the dehumanization of the unborn, the aged, and the infirm ...

I also understand the most of my fellow countrymen prefer to be provided with their “bread and circuses” rather than to possess freedom.
