Brilliant post...very sleuthful, no doubt accurate.
We had a population of 203 million in 1970 and 281 million in 2000. Today there are 318 million. Immigration drives 80% of our population growth. We have just had the two largest decades of immigration in our history. Since 1990 29 million legal permanent immigrants have entered the country.
I’m not sure about those roots, Kabar.
The other shoe has still yet to drop and that is when companies are forced to get Obamacare coverage or drop health insurance as a benefit and take the penalty. I suspect that many corporate bean counters are going to see the financial advantage to just paying the penalty, and then the fur will fly!
When that happens (not if), I think many a democrat will jump on the repeal bandwagon. Now, will the thing they try to jump to be single-payer? I think so. The GOP would be smart to challenge that with “jumping into the fire from the frying pan” approach, but only time will tell. The best argument for not going to single-payer is we have NO MONEY.
But as HL Mencken once said, “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people”
It's not so much going on defense but rather redirecting the offense. Instead of going after zero which is a fools errand,he's out in months and has no power anyway everything is done for him. Go after everyone else. Go after the Benghazi players-- Hillary the rest, irs players--Lois Lerner, all the players from val/jar-axelrod on down and the commie clowns in Congress. Do that and we get far more mileage than trying to go after a black potus who never stops playing the race card or lying. Basically ignore zero and he goes away.
I hadn't caught that, nor connected the dots. Good observation.
Where is the rallying around him by his base? They are fatigued too and seeing an incompetent loser.
Ska-rew his "base" I can't wait to see their noses rubbed in it, but they are raising money on it. But I'll bet it's doing wonders for our base (not meaning RINOs)
Impeachment may make his numbers pancake.
I certainly hope so...and speaking of pancakes....I smell bacon frying, I'm wanting some breakfast.
Agreed, 0bama is conflating Impeachment, with the House lawsuit, and with possibly a future A&Z reveal of crimes committed by 0bama lackeys.
All are framed as hated, with a basis in r@cism.
0bama is truly evil
So after you find out that Lerner was told by Obama to harass Americans you drop it because he is black. Sorry, I don’t care if he is green and am called a racist the rest of my life, he is a criminal and needs to be charged.
So he breaks every law in the book and you want to win even though you stand for nothing. Hilary gets elected and we have said the laws no longer matter in the Executive Branch, have at it. What happened to your freedom? You gave it a pass because you thought you would get a few more votes and you didn’t.
That is a losing strategy and only group think telling everyone to shut up. What if I am right and the group is wrong, what then? What if yours is the fools errand? The Dems are never afraid to go on wild goose chases for impeachment. They did it about 10 times on Bush.
Never let up on how corrupt and scandal-ridden the democrats are.
They got a lot of mileage on this charge back in 2006 and 2008 on a lot less facts and evidence. And then the whole Nixon thing was seriously overhyped by them and their press lapdogs. I think they were actually very disappointed when Nixon resigned rather than fight. They wanted the fight and the ability to continue to play the underdog in the eyes of the American people.
The 1974 elections were a blood bath for the Republicans, but they would have been even more routed had Nixon stayed. The dems would have tied Nixon around the neck of every Republican running. They couldn't do so after he resigned, especially in light of the fact that it was his own GOP senators that told him he had to go.
Turnabout is fair play, as they say.
Maybe Chuck U. Shumer and Dianne Feinstein will visit Obama at the White House...
My conspiracy theory.
This is the annual payoff to those who keep quiet about 0bama’s past.
Payoff via golf carts stuffed with cash
I'm sorry friend Bray, but that is absolutely unfair. Rod said NO SUCH THING!
In fact, he wants us to go AFTER people like Lerner with both barrels firing.
Also, the point of the matter is the GOP have the votes to impeach Obama but not to convict him. Those are two very different things.
As the saying goes, "If you're going to attempt to kill the king, make sure he dies." (and no, I am not suggesting physical harm to Obama, so Sarah haters, take your cross-hairs elsewhere).
I've been busy trying to lower insurance premiums. The across-the-board spike in flood insurance premiums was another dirty deal contribution to King O's slush fund. How long can we count on the temporary stay?
Good observation. Wish I was a caddy!
The Coyotes charge $8,000 to $10,000 (??) toll per trespasser crossing the border.
These are supposed to be poor oppressed peoples from dirt poor Central America countries.
Just WHO is fronting the cash for 50,000 to 75,000, or more, trespassers to cross the border????
Val/jar trying to play both sides saying “Israel has a right to defend themselves but its wrong to kill the innocents shields” put forth. The wench is between a rock and a hard place knowing one of their big benefactors the Saudis hate hamas but the regime hates Israel even more. So they keep on taking hamas’ side trying to do it all covertly.
Juan would be well advised to attend a TEA party event to see for himself who is in attendance
That's NON-white. Michael Jackson was un-white.
Douthat says:
This is the tone of the media coverage right now: The president may get the occasional rebuke for impeachment-baiting, but what the White House wants to do on immigration is assumed to be reasonable, legitimate, within normal political bounds.
It is not: It would be lawless, reckless, a leap into the antidemocratic dark.
And an American political class that lets this Rubicon be crossed without demurral will deserve to live with the consequences for the republic, in what remains of this presidency and in presidencies yet to come.
Demurral equals objection. The only constitutional way to object is thru impeachment. It should have been exercised after DACA.
You can't lose over and over and over and not get consequences. These are the consequences of what we keep ignoring, political strategy! Why don't you see that? Everything this regime does is politically inspired and we seldom counter any of it. Ignore the politics and we keep on losing.
We are losing because we are no longer the opposition party. Boehner has not used the power of the purse. He is not using the bully pulpit of the Speaker of the House. Boehner and the GOPe are more concerned about shutting down the Tea Party than going after Obama. He has not given the base any reason to want the Reps to be in control of the House or the Senate.
We lost this battle in 2012 with Mitt not now! There is little we can do to stop it now.
BS. The American people don't want amnesty. It is why the opposition doesn't like the "A" word. We need to use the template used by Dave Brat on immigration. We should listen to Jeff Sessions, Becoming the Party of Work How the GOP can help struggling Americans, and itself.
With 21 million Americans unemployed or underemployed, why should we want to give 6 million lawbreakers work permits to compete legally against Americans for jobs? The connection between immigration and unemployment needs to be made by the GOP.
The only thing that stops these commie-clowns is super low poll numbers that jeopardize the entire party. We need to strive for that. Leave the half black Manchurian alone or suffer the consequences of being race carded over and over and over. We can tear apart his administration at almost every level which as you say he's not running again. That's much smarter than going after him. their biggest nightmare is that his polls will sink so far he will become irrelevant and taek the party with him. we can help that along if we play smart.
But the damage is done. We can't give a free pass to an out of control, lawless President because we are worried about the political fallout. These lawmakers swore an oath to preserve and protect the Constitution.
Go for impeachment and "maybe" it passes the House but never the Senate. The rinos will sabotage us every time. I don't think we can self destruct fast enough or they have enough fraud money to stop us this time.
That didn't stop the Dems from trying to impeach Bush and it certainly didn't hurt them politically. The Reps can use the impeachment process to catalog the lawlessness of this President. It is a shot across the bow in defense of the Constitution. Someone needs to speak out now about the dire consequences of this Obama amnesty. They should start the public dialogue now about the damage done by such a contemplated action. The Dems are already spewing their propaganda essentially saying that the President has a right to do this because Congress has failed to pass comprehensive immigration reform.
