Top Right News ^ | Jason DeWitt

That’s the way to do it. The mother of this 12 year old girl had her post her punishment online after finding out she had posted pictures online to a Facebook account that she shouldn’t have even had (pics of her holding an alcoholic beverage).

Her daughter was grounded for the act, and then had to take to Facebook to deal with the consequences publicly…

No doubt some whiney quack therapists would b!tch and moan about the potential damage to the kids self esteem. But in this case, a little embarrassment and humiliation is a good way to make this young lady realize what she did was wrong and hopefully straighten her out. Good for you MOM!!

“Lucky young lady to have a mom who cares.”

Yep. I hope she also understands that in a few days after the initial pain has gone. We (so far) have been lucky in that regard, our kids know it is for their own good. The note is good - explains it well without being harsh on the girl either.

Looks to me like she is crying. Good. A little bit of pain, remorse, etc. to help remember the lesson.

What is any parent allowing their kids to post on facebook for?

there is no reason for it.

No. They cannot handle it.

THe best, most logical, intelligent, reasonable child does not, until he or she is past ninth grade cannot fathom permanence or the future.

They cannot understand the hurt that can come to them or that they can give anonymously or from kids in school.

None of them can elarn proper social skills without face to face contact.

And there is no reason for them to be on facebok

Saying no to it is very difficult for a parent.

The thanks one gets when the child is in 11th grade, with healthy friends and social skills, good grades, acquaintances who are regretful of sexting etc, is priceless.

Parenting is work.

Just say no.

People think crony capitalists who fund the border invasion, the medical and pharmaceutical industry and Hollywood and pop culture are going to allow studies of the psychological danger of facebook to middle school age children to get done, released and discussed.

Grow up.

That kid looks sad. I’ll bet a lot sadder than when the mother first said no to facebook, before finally giving in.

This is not epic. It’s abusive.

The parents who say no don’t get the epic recognition but they are out there and they are the epic ones.

NO!

Kids generally use Facebook like teenagers used the telephone 20 years ago, as an extension of their social life. It’s just a matter of teaching them what is permissible and what is not and why.

I would not say no to Facebook, but they also wouldn’t have a computer that they can take to a private part of the house.

You can’t lock kids in a convent. :)

It’s been my experience that, if the kids have been thoroughly educated, they will generally not do many of the things one fears they will do.

No computer no face book.

We are raising kids to eventually be able to run this country and it’s a job. And Facebook does nothing to accomplish that.

Facebook is completely unnecessary in middle school.

Sounds like Mom’s major objection wasnt that the kid HAD liquor, but that she posted a photo of her with liquor. If so that really misses the point.

That's why my daughters don't have cell phones. If there is ever a real need, they can have an old "dumb" phone with texting turned off.

“We are raising kids to eventually be able to run this country and it’s a job. And Facebook does nothing to accomplish that. Facebook is completely unnecessary in middle school.”

We are raising kids to be consumers; we are importing the people who will run this country. Incredible that discussions about the “digital divide” never deal with the fact that many of the minority victims of this divide have electronic gadgets worth more than my car. The fact that they use them for booty calls instead of something marketable is nobody’s fault but their own.
