Its unlikely that United Mine Workers of America president Cecil Roberts thought he would be arrested protesting the energy policies of the very politician his union supported in 2008. But things have come full circle for coal miners, who now see President Obamas climate agenda threatening their livelihoods.
Roberts and other UMWA members were arrested Thursday marching through Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, towards the federal building the Environmental Protection Agency was holding field hearings for a new rule that could very well force more coal mines and plants to shut down.

They were promised “CHANGE” and they got it.
I’ve spent a lot of time in the area and can imagine the sentiment expressed and the tone of voice it was expressed in.
I worked for 12 years in a union shop. They compose the most ignorant, uninformed group of people in America.
They are finally reaping the fruits of their labor. Hell with them, they got what they wanted, twice.
Amen!
Anyone who supports or supported Clown Prince nobama is a self-loathing fool and deserves what they get. Idiots.
Don’t you believe it.
Nick “Joe” Rahall, Joe Manchain, Natalie Tennant, and Allison Grimes, are all running around here with their fake southern accents, tying the Republican candidates to the same old cliches, and crying keep voting for us. We’re really gonna go against Obozo this time....we promise.
Bet you dollars they all win (Manchain not running this year).
So tell me again why these thugs were arrested for protesting.? Fine with me . I expect they had it coming-—shoulda been for supporting the Grand Kenyan in the first place. Maybe it’s a brown shirt round-up?
Night of the Long Knives ...
... with Cecil Roberts selected for the role of Ernst Roehm.
The latter is the first thing I thought of, honestly.
“...Nick Joe Rahall, Joe Manchain, Natalie Tennant, and Allison Grimes, are all running around here ...”
Friend, I hear you.
But that’s THEM.. That’s not Bob the Coal Miner your next door neighbor, or Mary’s husband, across the street, who’s out of work now because of Obama’s policies.
These are the people we need to reach, and wake up. They’re probably gunnies and hunters; they’re probably pretty damn Conservative overall. They’ve been voting D because Pop and Grandpop did - without realizing or paying attention to what that party turned into.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.... but getting those folks where they belong - on our side of the table, the working man’s side of the table - is a HUGE win.
The other side CANNOT afford to hemorrhage voters; so we need to help that along wherever possible.
A favorite quote of mine:
“I once told you, Von Ryan... if even ONE makes it out, it’s a victory...”
Imagine an army of out of work folks pointing the finger right at the folks who PUT them out of work...and then waking up to just who it is who’s REALLY been screwing them for decades.
America has the largest coal reserves in the world, This is one of THE major natural resources of theses united states and the Key resources of states like West Virginia, Kentucky and other major Coal producing states.
If the government effectively cuts us off from this resource America will decline financially because of it.
They are a union, and they been backers of the Democrat’s for a century. Now the very foundation of their union, the jobs upon which they depend are being systematically exterminated by Obama in a rather dramatic way.
Their leaders like most Democrats don’t want to believe what their eyes are seeing, but their pocket books can’t afford to ignore it.
“These are the people we need to reach, and wake up. Theyre probably gunnies and hunters; theyre probably pretty damn Conservative overall. Theyve been voting D because Pop and Grandpop did - without realizing or paying attention to what that party turned into.”
We can all spew about low information voters. It is the American lifestyle to not read, not find out the truth, but to go to the mall and the movies. I had to tell a girl in her twenties who paid for welfare. White from Ohio.
They need education. They need to hear someone on the streets. In a tent. Have a Constitutional Revival. Go to the state fairs, the local fairs and talk. Go house to house. Go to the local bars.
While we still have first amendment rights.
One of his campaign promises was to destroy the coal industry. One of the few he bothered to keep!
From the Great Depression until the era of Identity Politics and the rise of power crazed left wing militants like Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Durbin and Obama, the democrats were considered to be the party of the working man and republicans were reviled as the party of the wealthy.
There has been a great reversal in their positions since that time. For quite a while democrats have been the party of the wealthy elites (especially the newly rich) and the moochers. Democrats offer nothing to the middle class except higher taxes, inflation and loss of freedom. But union workers have been slow to make the switch in allegiance from the democrats, in part because of inertia - "That's the way daddy always voted." But mostly because of their wealthy leadership who have developed a self serving relationship with powerful democrats.
The truth is that any working person who votes democrat is voting against their own self interest.
Cry me a freaking river, guys. You only come around AFTER you screwed us and your country a SECOND time at the polls.
Each 0bama supporter among you should be thrown to the new MS-13 wolves 0bama is importing.
I fart in your general direction.
“...We can all spew about low information voters. ...”
Operative word there is “Voters”. If we do NOTHING, e gain nothing.
We make the effort, it’s more the better.
“...I had to tell a girl in her twenties who paid for welfare. White from Ohio....”
Point is, you DID educate her.
