Can't post here but for those interested, Preston's take on the outbreak. Not comforting.

CAN’T GET ONTO LINK.
I do like the image of him broadcasting from his bunker! I’m sure he’s a total physical coward.
That’s my take too - it looks like Obama is throwing the game. In that light his moves make sense...
This American doctor is the camel’s nose under the tent. Next our hospitals will be filled with all kinds of diseased third worlders. They’ll bring them all in to be treated.
Dear Lord...
Thanks for the link. Medical personnel who knowingly put their lives on the line and go into horrific conditions to treat people with this virus are heroes to me. God bless them.
neither can I
I read the reviews of this on Amazon and one reviewer says the author blames Republicans too much and then offers a list of less biased alternative books.
They’re bringing both over. One wasn’t enough. I hate to see these two Americans suffer at all, but don’t bring them here!
OMG, I read the article. Jeff’s Liberian mil was in the hospital here in Atlanta, with malaria 10 days ago.
I read that it looks like malaria at first. If I’d have known that I’d have freaked out! I guess it’s ok, she’s released and no one has died yet.
I don't really remember a lot of politics in the book. It was written by a Berkley doctor. It is still very informative about virus research. I'm sure the republicans will get blamed for an asteroid hitting the earth.
They are bringing back two patients , one at a time , using the same aircraft, which is already on a return flight.
#1) First rule of any contagious disease: ISOLATE , this violates this rule . Why ?
#2) Expierienced medical personell, using modern techniques and HAZMAT suits, are still contracting the disease in Africa.
#3) Medical treatment requires hydrating the patient with saline solutions (of which there is already a severe shortage), and use of coagulants and anti-coagulants.
#3a) Given the shortage of saline supplies, this puts the risk of further contaigian potentially more dangerous to the general population . Resupply avialable next year.
#4) Who made the decision to transport the two patients to the U.S. mainland ? Someone, or an organization, needs to be held accountable in case of disaster ! #5) There is currently no known treatment, or vaccine for this uncharacteristic variety of Ebola. Five other varieties have been identified
What I’d like to know is what defenses do we have...can’t help but think those in big cities are most vulnerable if this thing gets lose.
Was just looking at a history of the black plague on Wikipedia and it appears as though it bypassed Poland, of all places.
A Freep article on 4/16/14 discusses coughing and the size of dropplets remaining suspended in the air :
"In the cloud: How coughs and sneezes float farther than you think"

Concur. In any evaporation process a small amount of the base fluid will be carried over. The virus will exist within that small amount of fluid. If the description of conditions is accurate, the air in that place has plenty of virus in it. The “protective clothing” I have seen in news photos would be completely ineffective in that environment.
My friend who has connections in the LEA, syas that National Guard are being given protection now from this and that we will definitely have Martial Law when this gets going.
I notice that you used the term ".. when .."
Interesting !
YUP...WHETHER it actually hits or NOT.
