Obamacare for Ebola?
American Thinker ^ | August 2, 2014 | Allan J. Favish

Posted on 08/02/2014 4:50:46 AM PDT by AJFavish

On August 1, 2014, President Barack Obama held a combination press conference and filibuster. Among other things, he stated: "Keep in mind that Ebola is not something that is easily transmitted. That’s why, generally, outbreaks dissipate."

Contrary to Obama’s statement, Ebola is easily transmitted. Moreover, past outbreaks have dissipated because the infected people died so quickly that the opportunity to infect other people was reduced.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

More to the point, if it's so hard to transmit, why do people dressed like this still get sick???

This is starting to sound like a Tom Clancy thriller I read years ago. Ebola was the weapon the Arab terrorists used. I think the book was Executive Orders.

Dr. Chan (W.H.O.) said that the virus seemed to be spreading in ways never seen before.

“It is taking place in areas with fluid population movements over porous borders, and it has demonstrated its ability to spread via air travel,” she said.

Per sources, “if an Ebola virus-infected patient dies, the body remains infectious and must be handled with extreme caution”. With all the vomiting, bleeding, etc. going on, I’m sure the bedding is infectious as well so it all has to be disposed of ‘properly’. I would think cremation would be the safest method.

BTW, here is a study showing ZEBOV transmission from pigs to cynomolgus macaques without direct contact. The worst of the Ebola viruses is ‘Zaire’ and that is what ZEBOV stands for ..... ZEBOV has the highest case-fatality rate of the ebolaviruses, up to 90% in some epidemics, with an average case fatality rate of approximately 83% over 27 years. There have been more outbreaks of Zaire ebolavirus than of any other species. I am fairly certain that in one of the articles, I read that this outbreak is from Ebola-Zaire.

Yes, and why aren't they wearing chemical warfare gear, and operating flamethrowers.

***********************

The body of the first victim [Patrick Sawyer] of Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria, who died in Lagos on Friday, has been cremated.

Details of the cremation were not available at press time but Vanguard gathered that the eveny was witnessed by officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, led by its Project Director, Professor Abdulsalam Nasidi, among others.

The decision to cremate the body of the victim, it was further gathered, may not be unconnected with the deadly nature of the Ebola Virus which is known to be easily transmissible from human to human during handling of corpses of victims.

The World Health Organisation recommends that in communities where there is an outbreak of Ebola, appropriate containment measures including burial of the dead should be properly handled.

While stating that people who die from Ebola should be promptly and safely buried, WHO notes that cremation, which is the application of high temperature to reduce bodies to basic chemical components (ashes), is ideal for safe disposal of bodies of persons who die during outbreaks of highly infectious diseases such as Ebola Virus in order to minimise further transmission.

Remember all the military exercises a couple of years ago for the "zombie apocalypse"? Imaging the riots when panicked populations discover that it is already too late to stop the ebola virus. My advice is to get away from population centers now and hole up for the next two months.

I have read that some health care workers contracted the disease in the decontamination room. That is the room where they take off protective clothing and scrub down. Somehow the virus got in there. I appears just touching a contaminative surface (sink, counter top) with bare skin is enough to catch Ebola.

Scary, I think it would be a good idea to stock up on food, water and be prepared stay indoors for months at a time. You know "ounce of prevention" kinda thing.

I’m glad it’s not easily transmitted and dissipates quickly. Africa has 1300 cases so far; imagine what that would be like if it spread easily.

Those doctors flown in from Africa to Emory Hospital w/ Ebola at great risk and cost have gotta be Obama /DNC donors.

Otherwise, there is no way they'd be allowed to be flown into the US directly. Just my humble conjecture, but no journalist will look into it, I am sure.

Donate early ~ donate often to the DNC if you want any healthcare down the road, folks...
