Senate Budget Committee Chairman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) is sending a memo Friday to her Democratic colleagues urging them to start talking about how climate change will hurt the federal budget.
The memo, obtained by The Washington Post, details how global warming impacts will affect four key sectors of the federal budget: disaster relief; transportation and infrastructure; national security and agriculture. It comes three days after the Budget Committee held a hearing on the subject, and the White House published an economic analysis saying that delaying carbon emissions cuts will cost the U.S. billions.
Warning that it "is not just an environmental issue," Murray writes, "Climate change will also have serious ramifications for our economy and the federal budget, and failing to confront it will make it harder to meet our long-term fiscal challenges... The longer we wait, the bigger these challenges will be -- and the effects are becoming clearer in certain areas of our budget."

Typical liberals, only looking at one side of the ledger. Maybe there will be less costs and more economic activity if the climate warms. I mean, we were told (without even a hint of irony) that the first quarter was an economic disaster due to the the extreme cold. Milder winters might cause an economic boom. Less snow removal, maybe the Great Lakes don’t freeze over, maybe growing seasons in the northern states are longer - it may even CLOSE the budget deficit.

Ask the brainless wonder Patty a question on global warming, I guarantee you she could not answer it as she does not have a clue about it—nor about anything else. And now she is giving advice? Lord help us. Washington residents should be ashamed for electing an utter poltroon.
The Dems want cap and trade to raise money to keep and expand the welfare state.
I’m with Sen. Stupid (D-WA). Let’s balance the budget by shutting down HHS, ED, and AG. Then cut EPA and IRS by 90%. At least that’s a good start to mitigate the fed govt costs of global warming.
