Shorewood man charged with voter fraud

Shorewood — A Shorewood man has been charged with 13 counts of voter fraud, allegedly using other peoples' names and addresses — even driving to Indiana — to cast multiple ballots in multiple elections.

According to a criminal complaint, 50-year-old health insurance executive Robert Monroe cast two ballots in the April 2011 Supreme Court election between David Prosser and Joann Kloppenburg, two ballots in the August 2011 recall election between Alberta Darling and Sandy Pasch, five ballots in the Gov. Scott Walker recall election in June 2012, one illegal ballot in the August 2012 partisan primary election and two ballots in the 2012 presidential election.

Each of the 13 charges carries a maximum prison sentence of three years and six months, as well as a $10,000 fine. The investigation into Monroe's voting history was conducted in part under the auspices of a John Doe proceeding into Walker's campaign activity, according to the complaint.

Although the criminal complaint does not state Monroe's partisan affiliation, a search of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign website shows he contributed $50 to Darling's campaign in March 2011 and another $50 to the River Hills Republican in July 2011.

Monroe's illegal voter fraud began in the Supreme Court election between Prosser and Kloppenburg in April 2011. He is accused of registering at his address in Shorewood, as well as in Milwaukee, using his mother's former Lake Drive address and a fake social security number. He is also accused of taking his son to vote in Shorewood, even though he was registered in Waukesha but was living in a college dormitory in Milwaukee at the time.

During the Pasch-Darling recall election in August 2011, he cast an early absentee ballot using his Shorewood address and in Milwaukee using his mother's former Lake Drive address.

Monroe allegedly voted five times during the Walker recall election in June 2012. He cast an early absentee ballot in Shorewood, and on Election Day, he cast ballots in both Shorewood and Milwaukee. He sent multiple messages to his two sons asking them to vote.

Posing as his girlfriend's son, Monroe requested Shorewood Village Hall send an absentee ballot to his address in Shorewood, even though his girlfriend's son actually lives in Milwaukee. Monroe voted and signed the absentee ballot with a false name without the knowledge of his girlfriend's son.

Monroe allegedly pulled a similar trick using the name of his own son, who lives in Waukesha. After receiving multiple text messages pleas from his father on Election Day, Monroe's son voted on Election Day in Waukesha, which caught the attention of the Waukesha Clerk's Office.

The Waukesha County District Attorney's Office contacted Monroe's son about the June 5 voting discrepancy on Aug. 1, just days after Monroe once again used his son's name to cast an absentee ballot in Shorewood in the August 2012 partisan primary election. Monroe did not cast any additional ballots once his son received the letter about voting fraud.

Monroe allegedly gave up false names and chose to go to another state in the 2012 presidential election. According to the complaint, he cast an in-person absentee ballot in Shorewood on Nov. 1, and then several days later, voted in person in Lebanon, Ind., where he owns a second house. He used his Indiana photo identification card at the polls in Indiana.

Monroe, who is not in court custody, is scheduled for an initial appearance in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Thursday, July 17.

If we stoop to their level we are no better than they are.

I have no idea why people think I'd be inclined to let this guy off. I'm not, not in the least.

I bet this would have been impossible if he had to show a valid ID at the polling place.

So if we make the case that voter ID stops republican vote fraud, would the libs go along with it?

Question. What was the Party affiliation of the person that asked “What did the President know and when did he know it?”.

That will tell you all you need to know about Democrat versus Republican. A Republican would Vote to Impeach a Republican President Guilty of High Crimes and Misdemeanors. A Democrat would not do the same if it were a Democrat President.

Party over Country, the description of a Traitor.

Of course in today’s Political Climate, the Ivory President could be Impeached but the Ebony President could burn the Constitution on live TV and Impeachment would still be off the table.

As far as the Perp in the article, if he is found Guilty, lock him up and throw away the Key.

Just how much impact did this guy think he was having in elections.

All this for a few extra votes.

In a statewide election, a thousand like him makes an impact. he no way is alone.

He wasn’t part of a plan of a thousand, it was just him obsessing that he alone and his 2 or 3 (or once 5) extra illegal votes could change elections, it is a strange crime.

I’m not suggesting he was part of a plan. I do think, though, that there are many people who do this sort of thing.

We have to keep pushing for what is right and good. I know it’s hard to stick to our values when we know how much the dems cheat.

Except if it involves impeachment. </sarcasm>

Nothing will reduce the fraud as long as we have media polls that tell us what we think.

Of course I don’t condone this behavior and he should be punished to the full extent of the law.

HOWEVER - for those of you not living in and around ‘The People’s Republik of Madistan’ I’m thinking, if he’s not been a life-long jerk, that he may have been in Panic Mode.

If you had witnessed with your own eyes the angry, CrAzY, INSANE, mouth-frothing leftists that invaded Our Fair City during the election and the recall election, you might have panicked, too, doing whatever you could to protect our Governorship and our Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Again, not excusing it, but if panic drove him, those elections were the ones to push anyone over the edge.

I still cannot believe no one was shot or seriously hurt. It was very, VERY scary around here for a solid 18 months. Very scary. VERY!

Diana, you are in the running for Sainthood with your very forgiving comment. But, you are right on target.

I notice that Sandy Pasch is not running for re-election this time around. I guess her “pants on fire” got a little too hot for comfort.

Unfortunately, there are 4 Dems running for her seat and no republicans.

The Madistan Socialists have been working behind the scenes these past few years; something they are VERY good at. They can turn out the low-info voters as easily as the White Wine and Brie contingency who live in those $800K Condos uptown. *Rolleyes*

I’m certain we’re going to lose some seats.

The left never, EVER quits trying to ‘win’ even if it means destroying a Nation, a State, a County, a Municipality or a rural Cow Town. I wish our side had the same resolve when it come to doing the right thing!

We have made AMAZING strides under Governor Walker. Please, PLEASE don’t let it be for naught!
