On Tuesday, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) suggested that Border Patrol agents were torturing illegal immigrants by making detention centers too cold during the summer.
At a Congressional Progressive Caucus hearing on the border crisis, Schakowsky said she recently visited a detention center in Illinois where "all the kids I talked to at the shelter mentioned the cold."
"Cold has been used as torture in the past. I mean, really," she said. "It just makes no sense that they would, it seems deliberately, be held in really uncomfortable situations."
One immigrant advocate who was testifying said that cold detention centers are a way of "subduing" illegal immigrants.

“Oh, and Id also suggest that this is a good example of why much of central and southern Illinois wouldnt mind if Cook County just went away.”
W/O Cook County, Illinois would likely be a Red State. But so would practically every Blue State in the Union except perhaps MA, CT, RI, and perhaps VT. Then there is MD and DE!
It’s almost as if the poor little things are used to being coddled. Hard to believe they’re “refugees” coming from such poor, violent situations huh? A lot of actual Americans do not have central air. I’m sure they’d trade places.

Hey, Jan...Ever see Dr.Zhivago? That’s cold.
There was an article on FR within the last week or so that some of the “children” were complaining about the detention/staging area in Texas being too cold. I won’t post what I thought to myself when I read that.
My question is, how is it that Ms. Jan got into a facility and was able to talk to these “kids”, when Reps from other states weren’t allowed in and/or when they made arrangements a few weeks later, weren’t allowed to speak to the illegals (I know that OK was one and IIRC TX was another). Was it perhaps because she’s a Dim from you know who and his hommie’s (RE) home state?
Spending all that money to keep the little darlings cool. My ac stays set on 79. Trying to keep my ac bill below $800.
Cold is normally to keep the spread of bacteria down. Pity the poor Guatemalans sent to MN and ND.
They are impoverished and come from Central America. To them, AC is a wasteful luxury or the evil work of capitalists.
Invite someone to dinner and they complain about the food.
