More GOP Lawmakers Shifting to Support Gay Marriage
Newsmax ^ | 7/30/14 | Melanie Batley

Republican lobbyists are working to persuade GOP lawmakers to change their position on same-sex marriage and revise the party's official position that "traditional marriage" is between a man and a woman.

Gay marriage advocates say their efforts are paying off as an increasing number of members of the congressional delegation are diverging from the party line, The Hill reported.

"The issue is losing its toxicity, from a Republican perspective," Kathryn Lehman, a top GOP lobbyist and partner at Holland & Knight, who helped write the Defense of Marriage Act, told The Hill.

She has been visiting dozens of Republican offices in the House and Senate on behalf of Freedom to Marry, a group that backs same-sex marriage, and said that she has seen a significant increase in support since 2011.

Other lobbyists and organizations are also leveraging their conservative credentials to try to influence GOP lawmakers on gay marriage, transgender rights, and the creation of a federal nondiscrimination policy, according to The Hill....

God is still 100% against it. And I won’t vote for any GOP that supports any marriage but between a man and a woman. Keep surrendering all you want you spineless wimps. But God’s word is eternal and you are worm food

How things have changed.

It was ten years ago that a court in Massachusetts ruled in favor of homosexual marriage.

Ten years ago, the Democrats had their convention in Boston.

At that convention, NOT ONE WORD was said about homosexual marriage. The issue was toxic even to the liberal Democrats. No Democrats at that convention, held in a place where Homosexual marriage had been legalized, was willing to talk about the issue at all.

Now, ten years later, virtually all Democrats openly support homosexual marriage, and the landscape has changed. Now it’s a political liability to say you support traditional marriage. Only ten years ago, it was a political liability if you said you supported homosexual marriage.

Yep, and the MA GOP is losing its Base, figuring that wayward ‘Rats, Indies, and GOPe sycophants work going Forward (tm).

This GOP-tp plans to vote Fisher. In the primary; probably in the general, one way or another. Given the choice of principal/loss, and appease/win, I’ll take the former. At least I go down fighting.

Baker has moved *REMARKABLY* left since his last run, and he was too left then.

Yep. And I pretty much see the day where there won’t be a GOPer for whom we can vote.

This is all over but the shouting. And that is pathetic.

Here in Minnesota, we’re working hard to oust a GOP member of the Legislature who voted for gay marriage.

She voted for it - after previously saying she supported one man-one woman marriages. Her name is Jenifer Loon and she represents a strong GOP district in the southwest suburbs of Minneapolis. The winner of this primary will more than likely be elected easily in November.

The candidate I’m backing is Sheila Kihne. Here is her website:

The primary is August 12th. If you coulsd see your way to sending her some money, it would be much appreciated.

Her opponent has taken a lot of money from out of state pro-gay marriage Democrats.

It would be almost impossible to make this sort of thing up. "Republican lobbyists are working to persuade" Who would be so stupid as to pay people to try to persuade other people that an absolute oxymoron makes sense--much less to endorse it?

The function of marriage in civilized realms for thousands of years has been to sanctify family formation, provided by procreation. In most lands, marriage must be "consummated" by a procreational act between the participants--that is an act that can lead to procreation, whether or not it does. Where there is no consummation, the marriage has been subject to annulment.

People of the same-sex, simply do not have the physical equipment to consummate a marriage.

Granted, we live in bizarre times. Just walk down any city street, in a business district, and count the number of people you pass, walking around in a "bubble," with some sort of electronic screen in their hand, either controlling their attention via their eyes or ears, and unaware of any reality, but that electronic focus. Look at how many millions of supposedly sentient beings voted for a President, with no real grounding in American life or culture--as though that did not even matter!

Let me suggest that those "Republican lobbyists," find other work. They serve no purpose but to make Republicans in general look like idiots. While I certainly do not slavishly vote the party, I would like to still feel somewhat respectable, in claiming a Republican ballot in the next Primary. But this sort of silliness makes one question that choice.

In the last few elections, fewer than a million people voted for a candidate who did not fit that description.

If you are dealing with GOP on this issue and they are wavering refer them to the CDC website!! Ask them how they can support a movement that the Executive Branch states is a deadly "lifestyle!" ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pull it back as a HEALTH ISSUE! Stick to that when people bring up "Marriage Equality."

i.e. Response to question, "Will you support Gay Marriage?"

Ans: "I cannot support Gay Marriage as long as it poses a Health Risk to people."

The benefit of this is it gets them into having to discuss the health issue in a public forum!! They will ALWAYS divert the conversation to an emotional issue and steer away from the facts of the PERVERTED lifestyle! It is a disease ridden lifestyle.

The perverts WILL get emotional and all one has to do is ... HEY THIS ISSUE ISN'T MY FAULT! If you don't like it take it up with the Federal Govt's Centers for Disease Control! They are the ones stating it is a health issue not me!

The sounds like a bit of agit prop.

I think some Republicans are shifting, but it is not a sea change.

The lobbyists and pro-homosexual media puts stories like these into the “news” in an attempt to persuade lawmakers to give a thumbs up to perversion.

There is a deep moral corruption spreading across this land. America has turned its back on Gods Blessings. Deviants are celebrated, people feel it their right to obligate anothers labor for themselves without earning it and above all we have a government of lies and deceit.

The consequences will not be pretty.

Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
