This has been on various news sites today, but I don't see it on FR or Drudge. Any sort of a Google search on "MH17 bullet holes" will turn up multiple versions. German investigators are claiming that the forward part of MH17 is riddled with bullet holes, apparently 30mm, which is the main armament of the Ukrainian jets which were tailing the airliner. There is zero possibility of anybody shooting down an airliner with a 30mm gun from the ground.
30mm Russian, like our 20mm and 25mm, is a multipurpose round used by ground, air and naval vehicles. It first appeared in the ZSU-30 antiaircraft gun concept, which got cancelled. The first ground deployment for the 30mm round was the SA-19 Grison/9K22 Tunguska self propelled anti-aircraft vehicle in 1982, but it spread to a LOT of other Russian ground vehicles very quickly. It’s the main gun for pretty much all their front line armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles and amphibious assault vehicles now.
Anyway the forensic procedure in the cases like the MH-17 requires all the wreckage to be collected and put together.
Transnistria, Nagorno-Karrabakh, Abkhazia, South Ossetia aren't parts of Russia. Crimea is.
Let's wait for the communique. The Crimean case included a referendum and all the stuff. I see no reason thet Novorossia will have another way if it happens, of course.

The S-200 has an operational range of 190 miles and a ceiling of 130,000 feet.
The exercises were conducted on Cape Onuk, in Crimea, about 160 miles from the site of the crash.
What ever happened to that air traffic controller that reported fighter jets trailing that airliner.
Bottom line: mistakes were made.
Well, yes, that’s exactly what Ukraine finally admitted.
Hmmmmmmhhhhh.....
As I see it, there is zero way to believe that Barrack Obama and/or George Soros give a rat’s *** or would go to all this grief over an airplane, that’s fiction. The thing which has just now happened which they WOULD in fact go to all this trouble for is that BRICS conference down there at Fortaleza, Brazil, in which half the world’s population just walked out of the Wall Street/London monetary and banking system.
Welcome to Free Republic -- not Russia Today or the Voice of Russia
Will you be staying long after your propaganda self destructs????
I can almost guarantee you one thing:
During these last 2 weeks the Russian insurgents have been dragging parts of the Ukrainian jets and transports that they had shot down and planting them at the MH17 site in an effort to try to confuse the investigators.
So then you are an interloper -- an illegal immigrant hiding in Texas -- that's even worse.
30mm wont get to 35,000 feet and give enough lethal density zone to bring down an aircraft. Best AA shoots into an area and hopes the plane flys into the zone. 23mm and 30mm, heck old 57mm systems probably have <1% chance over 20,000 ft, let alone 30,000 ft +.
...sniff....
I believe you are in error.
The missile is a radar guided proximity detonation. It does not attempt to actually hit the aircraft. It get’s it’s cigar by just being close.
A rod charge is a penetrator for armor, like a tank.
To knock down a fighter jet, you don’t need that, although I am sure they have a missile designed for that and can be launched by a BUK.
AA missiles are quite different.
I think you made a typo in your post, and meant to refer exclusively to the SU-25 Frogfoot, which is unpressurized and has a service ceiling of only about 23,000 feet, and believe it or not, the SU-25 cannot equal the top speed of a Boeing 777.
It’s my understanding that the service ceiling of the SU-35 is +/- 18,000 meters (about 59,100 feet). The rate of climb is greater than 280 meters/second (51,000 ft/minute).
The SU-35 or the SU-27 could have conceivably done the deed, but as you point out, not an SU-25.
One would have to walk about the crash site with a weapon that is comparable to a overly pregnant 50 cal. machine gun or a truck mounted AA gun and make a heck of a lot of noise for a while.
Or you could hire a gremlin. With a hammer and a hole punch and do it less obviously.
But nobody reported either actions, noises, or gremlins. and a action like that would leave a lot of evidence, like the spent rounds in the dirt..
There seems to be a desperate desire to show that the US authorities are lying.
First I would point out that they have not been very engaged in this at all, save for the satellite footage and a bunch of blarney so let's take that out and go with what we got from the locals and the European press and reports from the ground by NGO’s.
Seems sufficient to me...pending any news that would turn the entire thing upside down.
