All Romney had to do was appeal to his base. You know, act conservative? It was his for the taking and he blew it.
But....but.....he was “Severely Conservative.”
I think Candy-eating Crowley’s biased interjecting lie really neutered Romney’s message regarding theOne’s foreign policy . . . as it was intended to do. Why is it that the acknowledged “fact-checkers” are all leftists?
Native intelligence should advise Republicans that they need their base; but no!--they have to chase those elusive "moderates".

So very true! If he had fought Obama the way he fought Newt Gingrich - and kept up the battle after he won the first debate with Obama - he’d be in the White House now.
I assume the economy would be in better shape than it is but who knows?
Point being, he couldn’t even ACT conservative.
To many can ONLY act ~6 mo before election time...then it’s back to the smoke/gin filled back rooms to praise our betters ‘from across the aisle’
When Candy "check the transcript" Crowley injected herself into the debate and backed him down on national TV with a lie that he didn't challenge he might just as well have folded up the tent right then.
I always though if he had stood up right then and called them both out for the set up it would have brought him great support.
I fault his debate prep team for not seeing that one coming.
Well.. true to a point. But that post-Hurricane Sandy hug-a-thon between Chris Christie and Obama, which made Obama appear leader-like mere days before the election, turned a lot of voters. It created a (false, but nonetheless powerful) narrative that "he cares for people like them."
It was lost when he deferred to Candy Crowley over the September 11 “terrorism” issue. Romney would not have been a strong and decisive leader either - he let some obese media cow and a skinny little fairy choomed up unindicted co-conspirator walk all over him.
I know, the base rather get screwed by Obama.
