Glen Beck's Kindler, Gentler Exploitation of the Border Crisis

Glen Beck’s “charity” charade is neither conservative nor, in my opinion, Christian.  This nation’s charitable impulses have already been exploited beyond belief through decades’ worth of lax immigration enforcement.  The most likely outcome of Beck’s “charity” act is that it will diminish the rule of law and undermine conservative goals.

With his flippant gift-giving, Beck (and his colleagues like Dana Loesch) will make it harder for America to reduce illegal immigration, maintain our sovereignty, and restrain the welfare state.  How could teddy bears and soccer balls have such an impact?  The short answer is that giving door prizes to illegal aliens will have the unintended consequence of encouraging further illegal entry.

For starters, true Christian charity is not supposed to go along with self-promotion.  On this point, Breitbart’s John Nolte very aptly points to Matthew 6:1-4:

Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven. “So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men.”

Beck is sounding his trumpet in the most obnoxious and self-serving manner imaginable.  Proof positive: in speaking of The Blaze’s coverage of the Glen Beck's charity charade, Beck actually said, “That should be the number-one retweeted story.”  Beck has forfeited his claim to charity; he is engaged in ostensibly altruistic self-promotion.

I just was smart enough not to join the Beck cult.

I’m a constitutionalist. What that means is that I expect the Constitution to be followed. One of the enumerated powers of the US govt is to secure our borders and protect our sovereignty. Its not statist genius its the Constitution. These illegals need to be forcibly stopped at the border and not even let across. If they cross they need to be detained given food, water and sent right back not Teddy Bears and soccer balls.

The border is a separate issue. That is in fact a power that the government SHOULD exercise with force... That’s not the discussion or what is being debated...

Private citizens & charities who want to feed, cloth & comfort CHILDREN (still waiting for those links) while they are waiting to be deported should be OK in your mind and that of American Thinker...

Oh wait... “That’s what we pay taxes for”...

Those were your words... I don’t believe caring for detainees is enumerated... Private charity does it much better...

Well since you seem like a person who keeps up I’m sure you have looked at Drudge today and seen the article about the militia on the border. And since I’m sure you have read that article and looked at the 69 photos then you have seen at least 20 or more photos that show almost all the “children” are teenagers and male. I’m sure you noticed that the pics of smaller children show them with their mothers. I’m also sure you noticed that they are all in detention holding cells jammed in like sardines and it would take an act of God to get a good soccer game going. Try handing Teddy Bears out to that bunch. What a joke!
