Plans for a team of unarmed Dutch and Australian police officers to visit the site of the Malaysia Airlines plane disaster have been cancelled.
Fighting around the site of the airliner downed in eastern Ukraine prevented the visit.
The vast crash scene, which covers 20 square miles, mostly fields, is currently controlled by pro-Russian separatists who are battling Ukrainian government forces in a months-long conflict.
A Ukrainian defence official said his troops were trying to clear the areas around the site near the village of Grabovo from rebels.
There was reportedly fighting at several locations, including near the town of Debaltseve, 15 miles north-west of the crash scene.

The Crash site area is smack in the middle of the Rebel-held corridor to the Russian Border, that Kiev needs to open to save the three trapped brigades in the South Pocket.
Tweets from Dutch BNO reporter Michael van Poppel
“heavy clashes in Torez, near MH17 site. “It appears the Ukrainian army has begun a large offensive””
“Dutch government: Team of 30 forensic experts unable to reach MH17 site due to fighting in the area. Team now in Donetsk”
The best way to protect civilian airlines is to destroy the terrorist who shoot at them. I hope they’re all dead soon, which should give some closure to the victims of Putin’s proxies. No doubt Putinistas will pray for Putin and his henchmen who have brought so much suffering to that part of the world, but their prayers will go unanswered.
Because the Russian savages have nukes and advanced fighter jets while the moslem savages don't.At least not yet.
KIEV? Who are the bastards who are trying to unfree a nation and are shooting down aircraft, backed by an evil man who happens to lead the evil empire?!
Somehow, I just knew the usual suspects would have the usual comments about this.
No discussion at all of Kiev violating their own declared “Cease-fire” zone around the downed MH-17, that the media made such a big deal of, just more hate.
Usual comments beget more usual comments.
No surprise here.
A Ukrainian defence official said his troops were trying to clear the areas around the site near the village of Grabovo from rebels.
The rebels were the ones who shot the plane down and have for the last 10 days been keeping international officials from the shootdown site.
Let’s see why would it be a good thing to get the terrorists who shot down MH-17 out of crash site area...hmmmmm?
Funny thing about that. International observers have been all over the site for two days.
Not a WORD from you about Kiev violating it’s own declared “Ceasefire”, though. You aren’t a hypocrite, are you?
And still no intellectual curiosity from you about why the African crash ATC tapes were released within 24 hours of the crash, but the MH17 ones STILL haven’t been. I wonder why?
Here is an article that we would like Sapper to comment on:
What happened? The day Flight 17 was downed

Why were the police called in?
Were there a bunch of pet dogs running around the plane?
“Lets see why would it be a good thing to get the terrorists who shot down MH-17 out of crash site area...hmmmmm?”
Because Kiev has thousands of troops trapped in the South Pocket that are being eliminated, and they are trying to cut off Donetsk?
So, you are admitting that the Kiev declared “Cease-fire” was just a lie designed to gain a tactical advantage, right?
If you recall, I asked at the time they declared it, if they would actually honor it.
Again, I get proven correct by events.
Really --
The Malaysians say that the rebels have only given their investigators access for only 3 hours a day and only 3 days last week and they have only seen 1 other investigator.
They are calling for 30 investigators for atleast a week to cover the site just look for the body parts that the rebels are moving around.
But you knew that, right???
Is that you, Igor???
I didn’t see anything that you are yapping about in the article.
Perhaps you have it confused with Russia Today or The Voice of Russia or one of McGruff’s posts —
It takes two and in this case three to have a cease fire -- the third in this case being the Russian troops firing on Ukrainian forces during the cease fire from across the border.
But you knew that, right???
