Police detained two men at a Midtown hotel late Friday after a doorman reported they possessed a pair of pressure cookers like those used to make the Boston Marathon bombs. But the men say it was a misunderstanding: They plan to use the pressure cookers to prepare rice, chicken and meat.

I am leaving New York because of this, he said. We were supposed to stay until Tuesday, but we are leaving Sunday.
DONT LET THE DOOR........
how about Leaving America in Protest!!!
I always carry pressure cookers, pots, pans, spatulas, etc when I travel, doesn’t everyone?????...sarc/
This is a strange story. You stay at a luxury hotel but don’t eat in the restaurant, or call room service. Instead you will cook your food in a pressure cooker???
And now these dudes are offended to have been questioned. So they are going home early. Were supposed to feel sorry for them???
Don’t give my wife any ideas.
I worked at a NY hotel when I was younger. You would not believe how many times we caught Indian tourists cooking meals in their room with a hibachi!
Looks like the kind of place where most guests cook in their rooms...NOT http://www.intercontinentalnybarclay.com/
They should NOT have been released! Anybody stupid enough to travel to a big city with pressure cookers is too dangerous to be allowed to be free.
*LOL* oops....Sorry.......
Where does it stop?
When you are being questioned for checking into a motel with a highly flammable liquid, gasoline, in your vehicle.
Maybe you have what looks like, horrors of horrors, a gun case in your car and some left wing fruitcake thinks you look like a terrorist because you have a TEA Party bumper sticker.
Should they call the cops on you and you be questioned?
This smells to high heavens, and I hope that somebody digs deeper into it.
It is not a good excuse if you are staying in a hotel.

Indians have caste rules that often prejudice them against any food they didn’t cook themselves, because you can only be sure your specific requirements were met if you made it yourself.
A camp stove and a saucepan, one could understand, but pressure cookers? No way.
Maybe one day, I can stay in a hotel like that ,with no worry about paying for the night or for room service. That’s a high class place. If these young men were truly innocent of ‘harboring wicked plans’, they are guilty of being ignorant of their surroundings. What does he mean, he ‘knows nothing about’ the Boston Bombings. It’s possible, but not probable.
Good to hear that over a dozen cops quickly responded. Good work, boys. We must remain vigilant.
Are you saying that after Boston, these two should NOT have been questioned?????????????
Incredible!!!!!
He was lucky they did not kill him.
That was my first thought too, but then I read the article again, and it said they planned on using the cookers when they got back home to Idaho. But even that stinks since they could have just as easily bought them when they got to Idaho. I've no doubt that they had plans to cook something while in NY City, but it wasn't anything to eat.
Rice? In a pressure cooker?
