A feminist studies professor at a California state university accused of forcibly grabbing an anti-abortion activists poster and assaulting the 16-year-old girl has pleaded no contest to three misdemeanor charges.
University of California at Santa Barbara Associate Professor Mireille Miller-Young was charged with one count each of grand theft, vandalism and battery in connection to the March 4 incident involving 16-year-old Thrin Short, her older sister, Joan, and other pro-life activists who were holding signs in a free speech zone on the campus when the professor went berserk.
Miller-Young, who remains employed by the university, and her attorney, Catherine Swysen, did not respond to requests for comment. The charges reportedly carry the possibility of jail time, but sources close to the matter say Miller-Young is likely to be ordered to pay a fine, perform community and undergo counseling when shes sentenced on Aug. 14.
According to a police report on the March 4 incident, Miller-Young told police that she was pregnant and was triggered by the protesters signs and the graphic images depicted on them.
We hope that the sentence as a whole will unambiguously undo the good example she believes she set for her students, both in her own mind and theirs, Katie Short, the girls mother and legal director of Life Legal Defense Foundation, wrote FoxNews.com in an email.
Thrin and Joan Short said they had distributed nearly 1,000 informational pamphlets during the event, which was organized by the Riverside-based nonprofit Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust. Things took an unexpected turn when, according to Short, Miller-Young approached the demonstrators and a group of students who had gathered.

“”In any sane college, shed have been fired.””
Do they even exist?????
She will probably get full professorship and a raise.
Eventually, a more well-run college/university will see the light and bow to alumni or other influence (money!).
I also seem to remember some professor or affiliate from Colorado ——that fake Indian guy (Ward Churchill?) who was protected for a time and then fired.
I doubt it. The ONE thing a college or University does not want is controversy and bad publicity and according feedback. It is the reason why you see so many of them capitulate even on the threat of a lawsuit that has been filed. I know one or two that nearly always settle out of court when a lawyer for the plaintiff is retained - even when they could win the case eventually.
Yep, Ward Churchill the fake Indian.
He even sued to get his job back and lost, that was sweet.
“Miller-Young told police that she was pregnant and was triggered by the protesters signs”
Wait, I thought feminists were against “blaming the victim”? I guess only as long as it suits them.
Absolutely should have been terminated from her position.
Looks like she has a screw loose.
There is only one place you can get a job with a degree in Feminist Studies, a liberal college! And the crazy part is they pay her over $100K to teach other feminist the same stuff!
If a conservative professor did this to a group supporting Planned Parenthood or some other liberal feminist cause you can bet they would be fired!
Truth. Absolute.
UCSB is my alma mater. This incident is just one in a long stream of outrages that are why I haven’t donated to their coffers for years. And naming Janet Napolitano president of the UC system is beyond redemption.
From looking at her picture, I think if that woman is pregnant, she should be arrested for rape...
I don’t know how a man could touch that POS without being forced....
" 'Professor Miller-Young is not currently teaching any courses and is not scheduled to teach any courses during the fall quarter,' Foulsham wrote in a statement to FoxNews.com on Friday."
“UCSB spokesman George Foulsham said the university does not discuss personal matters.”
THIS WAS NOT “personal matters.” It was a matter of free speech which was being denied to the anti-abortion group.
No way.
2. The university spokesman is saying that they have a standard policy which prevents them from revealing what disciplinary measures, if any, they have taken against the professor. That is a widely-adopted routine policy.
3. Calm down.
You can’t make this stuff up. Nice catch.
But her paycheck continues.

Battery is a misdemeanor?
