For weeks, the Army has been taking a verbal beating for sending “pink slips” to officers while they were deployed. It was no joke or Internet rumor, either: About 1,100 captains received notice last month that they would be required to leave active duty within a year as the service shrinks, and some of them were in Afghanistan and other volatile areas.
Reaction was swift. It was a “stunning display of callousness,” one Army veteran wrote earlier this month in the New York Daily News. It was an “outrageous and and heartless way to ‘thank’ combat veterans,” responded one writer on Townhall.com. It showed that President Obama was “putting domestic politics ahead of the security of our nation,” said Sen. James Inhofe (R.-Okla.). And those were some of the more civil reactions.

When the Republicans take the Senate and can redo the budget and smooth out the mandatory sequester, the issue will be resolved. The temporary discomfort is necessary to assure the Republicans get the Senate back.

Lists are made public on a given day regardless of where everyone is.
Would you like it better if they waited until the individual got back to home station?
In that case everyone stateside would get the notice while somebody who just deployed for eight months would think they were safe - until the day they step off the plane and are handed to notice.

The Army went through this after Vietnam and again after the First Gulf War. The nation needs the Army to fight its wars, but less so when those wars are over. The Air Force and Navy are more glamorous and their weapons systems are much more attractive to members of Congress.
Obama needs the money to pay for his amnesty program and to bail out irresponsible cities like Detroit and Flint. And don’t forget the money we need to spend to save the planet and line the pockets of Obama donors. Creating a liberal paradise requires sacrifices and who better to have to make those sacrifices than right wing nutcases who answered their countries call. They are probably all gun owners.

This Bullsh!t. Military pinkslips will ruin and disrupt the lives of the servicemen. I was onboard a destroyer for 11 months after joining the Navy, when Johnson gave out pink slips. I left active duty after a little over a year. That was 1963. In 1968 they told me that I hadn’t served a continuous 24 term of active service, so I was subject to recall. I was yanked out of college, 4 months short of completion and shipped off to Viet Nam. It was 9 years before I was able to complete college and get my degree. If anyone thinks it will be different for the guys getting these pink slips now, then you probably believe that everything coming out of Obama’s mouth is the truth and nothing but the truth.
Meanwhile we’re flying, feeding and housing “Dreamers” all across the country.
One of the few things the Constitution actually gives the Federal Government and this administration is laying waste to it.
Where will tomorrow’s leaders come from?

Not so. We (The USAF) had a big Reduction In Force (RIF) of O-3’s back in 1992. Many of those Captains had a week or so to clear out. I remember the commander/OIC of our Security Police squadron at San Vito dei Normanni AS in Italy was notified on Monday and by Friday his household goods were shipped out, and he, his wife and kids were on a plane back to the USA.
He was one of thousands on that USAF RIF.
