Gulf emirate is branded the villain behind Hamas belligerence, with PMs former security adviser saying it funds tunnel diggers and rocket launchers.
President Shimon Peres accused Qatar on Wednesday of becoming the worlds largest funder of terror due to its financial support for Hamas in Gaza.
Qatar does not have the right to send money for rockets and tunnels which are fired at innocent civilians, the outgoing statesman told UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in Jerusalem. Their funding of terror must stop. If they want to build then they should, but they must not be allowed to destroy.
Qatars recently attempted to transfer funds for the salaries of Hamas civil servants in Gaza, following the formation of a Palestinian unity government, but was blocked by the United States, which pressured the Arab Bank not to process them. But former national security adviser Maj. Gen. (res) Yaakov Amidror told The Times of Israel that the emirates funding for the organizations terror apparatus, including tunnel diggers and rocket launchers, has continued unabated.

The United States has blocked the transfer of Qatari funds earmarked for the salaries of civil servants hired by Hamas in Gaza, The Times of Israel has learned.
A diplomatic source in the Gulf state, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Qatar had transferred hundreds of millions of dollars to Arab Bank for the salaries of some 44,000 Hamas civil servants. Those civil servants employed by Hamas in Gaza since its takeover of the Strip in 2007 were rendered jobless by the unity agreement with Fatah last month.
But the money was never processed by Arab Bank and delivered to Hamas, the source told The Times of Israel, due to pressure from the Americans, who consider Hamas a terror organization.
This is strange, since funds from Qatar have never been blocked in the past, the source said, referring to the $400 million aid package pledged by Qatari ruler Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa during his visit to Gaza in October 2012.
Hamass deputy political bureau chief Moussa Abu Marzouk lambasted Arab Bank for neglecting to process the funds in comments posted on his Facebook page June 28.
“Israel singles out Qatar as key Hamas terror sponsor”
Qatar...Qatar...Qatar...
Now, where have we heard that lately?
“U.S. Central Command Forward Headquarters and Combined Air Operations Center”.
Nope
Well, I’ve been posting on it. Is that what you’re referring to?
No way should Qatar be allowed to host the World Cup, or any major world event for that matter, until it becomes a civilized country.
We’re not there yet.
Well, they’re allowed to take on the six former detainees.
Is it just a coincidence that Hamas attacks increased right after King Obamadullah released those 5 Taliban commanders from Gitmo to Qatar????
It shows that those Gitmo detainees are in the right place for terrorist activities ... :-) ...
It’s time for all good men and women to come to the aid of Israel. It’s also time to acknowledge that we have a gang of neo-Nazi Soros trolls who have infiltrated FR.
Might want to consider removing Saudi Arabia from the right side and placing them on the left side with Turkey and Qatar. The Saudi royals are crafty and pay well to have written and said what most benefits them. Example ... http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/07/23/uk-qatar-saudi-idUKKBN0FR22X20140723?feedType=RSS&feedName=worldNews&rpc=477 ... article says there is a riff but Qatar and Saudi royals met yesterday.
Also we (the U.S.) just made a deal with Qatar to deliver 11 billion in weapons to them.
Saudis are much more dangerous than any of those countries, because they’ve tricked us into believing they are our friends.
I fully agree with you.
There’s loads of trouble with helping one Muslim country against another (which is what is going on here). You don’t want one to gain the upper hand in the region, because it would be a nightmare scenario, so you offset it by playing another Muslim nation against them.
The problem is that they are all countries you don’t want to support, but do you let the worst one - that you really don’t want - gain the upper hand? It’s enough to give anyone a big headache ... LOL ...
To avoid the headache would it be better to not play? I know someone else would fill the void, either Russia or China but like you I hate headaches.
The two blocks are in the midst of forming right now. The situation cani still be fluid. Earlier Saudi Arabia was lined up with the Egypt block (along with Israel). I kind of believe that will stick.
But, I think it will require some time to assess how these blocks will form. I think the “pivot point” centers around Iran, though. We’ll see ...
It has been said both Qatar and the Saudi royals are supporting ISIS in Iraq. Looks like the Saudis are playing all ends of the candle, with fire, while we (the U.S.) holds the candle.
I’m all for coming to the aid of Israel, but I want to support what Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to do and not try to tell him how to do it. It’s like he yelled at Kerry about in one if his meetings. He said that he and Israel knows what to do and don’t need outsiders telling them!
