NYPD officials investigating how the two American flags on top of the Brooklyn Bridge were replaced with two white banners said Wednesday that the act was likely carried out by up to five intruders in two teams with knowledge of the bridge, The New York Post reported.
The teams' plan to evade police in four patrol cars included aluminum lasagna pans they used to cover the floodlights aimed at the flags during the switch at 3:29 a.m. Tuesday. The 11-by-20-foot white flags were first spotted at the break of dawn by a police officer, The Post reported.
"For someone to compromise that gate by going around it and continue to the top of the tower, have the right size cover to put over the light, there's some indication of some good deal of pre-operational planning, perhaps some indication that they have experience climbing in construction or in bridgework, or that they may have actually been up there before looking at the dimensions," John Miller, the deputy commissioner of intelligence, told the paper.

I find it so funny that they act like because they knew how to get to the top was the smoking gun that this was pre-planned. How about the fact they had 2 bleached out flags to replace the flags that were up there made. I am guessing you don’t just go to the local hardware to purchase that.
Perhaps Security was in on the operation....
This is a direct result of New York's notoriously weak lasagna-pan-control laws....

All the USA flags on the moon have been really bleached out and are now white.
The white flag of surrender with a faded image of Old Glory in the background doesn’t seem like a lame message to me..
Imagine if more of these start to pop up at various national landmarks....
How do we know they were switched ? Couldn’t the perps just have lowered them and saturated them with bleach ? Wouldn’t that have been quicker and easier ?
I believe I read the white flags were a different size than the ones removed and also of a different material.
But it’s not at all obvious to me (and I assume most others) what it means.
Is this somebody from our side showing how that the fedgov has surrendered as far as illegal immigration? That (with the bridge context) is what I’d take it to be.
