The FAA announced today that they have not lifted their ban against travel to or from Tel Aviv's airport and will prohibit travel to the country for an additional 24 hours.

"The agency is working closely with the Government of Israel to review the significant new information they have provided and determine whether potential risks to U.S. civil aviation are mitigated so the agency can resolve concerns as quickly as possible," the FAA said in a statement.

Your information is incorrect. No matter how many times you quote some source, the source is suspect when they don’t even know how many flag carriers from the US service Tel Aviv.

It’s fact and has been quoted here before. You may not like it that these major airlines have done this even before the FAA even announced any such thing, bit that’s the way it is.

You can say it’s incorrect but the actual news reports were ALREADY OUT about planes turning back and around and airlines canceling flights even before the FAA mentioned or uttered a single word!

The FAA does not ban flights subject to multilateral agreements. They do not have the authority. What the weasels did for their master Hussein Obama was restrict PILOTS with US certificates from flying in Israeli airspace. An effect ban. It truly is unprecidented.

Again, your are flat out wrong. The FAA NOTAM was issued at 12:15, BEFORE all but one airline had cancelled.

I already gave you the report and posted it yesterday ... four major airlines suspended - indefinitely - their flights and that was before the FAA.

Your quotes are crap. Keep it up, Hamas loves the lies. The airline I work for is ready to resume as soon as our PILOTS won’t be in violation of the ridiculous FAA ban. I know, because I have friends assigned to those very flights.

Quoting from an article ...

— — —

On Tuesday, four major U.S. airline carriers announced their decision to cancel flights heading to Israel indefinitely, one specifically citing the danger of Gaza rocket attacks near Israel’s Ben Gurion airport.

Shortly afterwards, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it told all U.S. airlines that flights to the airport are prohibited for 24 hours, according to The Associated Press.

There were numerous reports this morning directly contradicting your AUTHORITATIVE quotes. The first airline was Delta. THEN the FAA issued their NOTAM. The reset followed the NOTAM.

BTW, can you even name the flag carriers from the US that service Tel Aviv? No? I thought so.

Bless your heart. You think quoting from an article on the Internet is documentation

Did you think the 1739 times ABCCBSNBC quoted Obama's "If you like your plan you can keep it" were a form of documentation too?

Give your fear mongering a rest.

Between listening to some electronic personality, who could be in their mama’s basement -versus- getting documented news reports, I’ll listen to what is a documented news report.

And the fact is that anyone here could be holing up in their mama’s basement — which is why we all go on the basis of what we can document.

How’s your mama doing upstairs? ... LOL ...

Actually, it isn't. Are you an airline employee at one of the airlines (3, not 4) that are flag carriers from the US to LLBG?

But, just so that you know, a simple google search brings this up:

US Airways plans to resume Tel Aviv flight on Thursday (if FAA says OK)

Why would they do that, if they were simply following on to what the FAA ordered.

But, by all means keep up the anti-Israel crap. It is your right.

I’m not taking about when they resume flights ... I’m talking about them stopping before the FAA said anything. That’s what the quote says and is about.

No, your persistent point has been (excuse the paraphrase), "It isn't just the FAA, the airlines have determined it is not safe to go to Israel. Rockets are falling everyone where. WAAAAAA!"

The fact is, discontinuing service to Tel Aviv is a political move, which rewards the terrorists (gee, thanks Star Traveler, you are doing a great job helping out). El Al is one of the safest, most conservative airlines in the world. They didn't flinch. British Airways, likewise, and in their case ignored a warning from the EU.

As to the sequence of events, it was not the Delta captain that diverted from his JFK to TLV route, it was Delta operations that diverted the flight (I am an Airbus captain, and our jets are high tech, but we don't get news in flight, even NOTAMs - we rely on our operations to give us in-flight information).

After Delta diverted, it is likely their local FAA was notified by Delta operations. The FAA issued their NOTAM at 12:15 EDT for 24 hours. United cancelled their two flights from EWR after that. US Airways cancelled only their Wednesday night flight from PHL. By late afternoon, Delta has made their plans "indefinite" and US Airways issued a press release that said they were canceling through Saturday. This morning US Airways changed their plans and said that they would in fact fly Thursday if the FAA NOTAM was lifted.

"Them's the facts" - but feel free to keep on quoting from various blogs etc. - and please wear a "I'm Star Traveler and I quote from the Internet" sign the next time you fly. I'll introduce myself as a 34-year (56 year-old) Airbus captain, and show you I am not in my parent's basement.

It’s not political but it’s a business that the airlines are running and they suspend flights on a legitimate business decision, which also has to do with the safety of their passengers.

FAA extends ban on US flights to Israel by 24 hours

http://www.jpost.com/Operation-Protective-Edge/Lufthansa-Delta-extend-flight-bans-to-Israel-368616

Lufthansa, Delta, US Airways extend flight bans to Israel along with US Federal Aviation Administration along with most European airlines.

The FAA on Tuesday said it told US carriers they were prohibited from flying to or from Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv for up to 24 hours, citing “the potentially hazardous situation created by the armed conflict in Israel and Gaza.” The FAA later extended the ban by another 24 hours on Wednesday evening.

The decision to halt flights to Israel follows the downing last week of a Malaysia Airlines jet over Ukraine with nearly 300 aboard.

Germany’s Lufthansa on Wednesday suspended flights to and from Tel Aviv for an additional 24 hours. The decision also applies to Germanwings, Austrian Airlines, Swiss and Brussels Airlines.

“At the present time no adequate authoritative new information is available that would justify a resumption of flights. In close coordination with the responsible authorities Lufthansa is continually evaluating the safety situation for its total flight network,” the company said.

Your quotes have proven false statements in them. You keep quoting: "On Tuesday, four major U.S. airline carriers announced their decision to cancel flights heading to Israel indefinitely" and yet there are 3 major US airlines that service Tel Aviv. And no, they did NOT say that they would do it indefinitely. Delta said that.

If there’s a problem with this quote, get a retraction from the news agency, or write to the editor ... but from everything I’ve seen not only are individual US airlines suspending flights, but Germany is and other airlines in Europe are. In fact, I just saw this quote ...
