I cannot independently confirm the accuracy of this story but it comes from a well trusted friend. It is my wish that repeating it may cause someone with the means to investigate further to research.
When an individual attempted to purchase Dinesh D'Souza's book "America" at a San Diego County Costco, the following scenario occurred. There were none on the shelf and she asked an employee if any were available. He pulled her aside and told her to please not reveal that he told her but that Costco was perpetuating a huge fraud on consumers.
He further explained that the book shipment and been rejected by the store and showed her the paperwork illustrating such. According to the employee, all workers were warned that even speaking to a customer about the book would cause them to be fired. In other words, Costco had no intention of restocking the books.
The employee added that when they did have them in stock, they flew off the shelves.
It seems almost unbelievable but then again............not really.
Maybe a Freeper has experienced something similar or knows how to verify this story. I'm guessing it would be all stores; not just one.
It was in the store in Van Nuys 5 days ago. There were fewer copies than HRC’s Hard Choices (3 -4 Times as many). Of course the size of the pile of her book hasn’t changed in weeks.
And still, they don't pull it...
At Costco in Avon, Massachusetts a few days ago. At least 30 copies of his book were there.
My wife was at the Costco in Cypress, California and the book was for sale there. My wife called to complain the week before and wanted to be sure it was on the shelf.
No too surprising considering that Obama’s host for one of his fundraisers in Seattle this week is former Costco CEO.

I was aware of the “friendship”. We can’t change that but we don’t have to pay membership or shop there.
Sounds like an urban myth to me...
Not sniping at you, just thought the idea of an employee walking around with this info didn’t ring true.
All I can tell you is this was told to me as a first hand experience by a trusted friend. She told me and asked if I I knew any way to get the word out and see if this was happening all over. I’m not vouching for it other than knowing this person well and doubting any chance of her making it up.
I turned to FR (where I’m seldom active after a membership of 14+ years). I figured people would weight in on it and give a pretty good read on other experiences.
Don’t think it’s an urban legend as this was, I repeat, a first hand experience.
Went to Costco in Van Nuys, Ca. last night America is no longer on their book table. HTC’s book is prime fly displayed on the end cap by two main aisles. Right after they said it was being put back there was a small stack of them, but not now. Next to HTC’s book is a small stack of Blood Feud. This storieslocated in a heavily Democratic area.
No longer in stock at Van Nuys, Ca Costco. They did have some right after they said putting back, but no longer. Did have a small stack of Blood Fued right next to a huge supply of HTC’s book. HTC’s book has t h e most visible position in the book department and liked like it was the largest quantity of books including fiction best sellers which substantially out sell non fiction best sellers. Does your Costco still have his book?
Adios lefty Obama lovin' Costcos. You will not be getting anymore of my money!
