Anderson Cooper: 'TWA Flight 800 Was Shot Down'
American Thinker ^ | Jul. 22, 2014 | Jack Cashill

Posted on 07/22/2014 5:16:41 AM PDT by libstripper

Some truths CNN reveals only accidentally. One such truth Anderson Cooper shared on the night of July 17. In speaking about the shoot down of Malaysian airliner MH 17 earlier that day, Cooper referred back to “July 17, 1996, when TWA Flight 800 was shot down off the coast of Long Island in New York.”

"An El Al flight was immediately behind flight 800."

Really? Did not know that - makes sense, though.

They had talked about the trip for months.

They washed cars, held bake sales and sold candy bars to raise the money to go.

The trip cost each of them about $1,500, a hefty sum for teenagers growing up in a town of 5,000 people slung beneath the Allegheny Mountains in rural north-central Pennsylvania.

But it was the trip everyone in the Montoursville High School French Club planned as the crowning event of their high school years, eight days and seven nights in France and Switzerland.

Amanda Karschner saved her earnings from a part-time job at Cellini’s Sub Shop, where she somehow managed to squeeze in two nights of work a week between track practice and basketball practice and all her other school activities.

Like the others, she was smart, athletic and popular, one of those kids with a big paragraph under her name in the high school yearbook.

Just after noon Wednesday, 13 girls and three boys, along with their French teacher, her husband and three other chaperones, set off in a bus for John F. Kennedy International Airport, on their way to Paris.

Sixteen hours later, their parents would follow them to New York, also on buses, but filled with tears and dread.

And, as night wore into day, the townsfolk of Montoursville, who had bought the cookies and candy and had their cars washed even when they weren’t all that dirty, would start giving their money again—to a memorial fund for the students’ families.

Absolutely, a .22 short can drop a thousand pound steer in his tracks, there is no reason to believe that a tiny missile can not bring down the largest airliner so far as I know. Of course I am not an aeronautical engineer.

An El Al flight was immediately behind flight 800. That probably was target

How would the person shooting the missile know that?

Some members of the French Club from Montoursville HS were on Flight 800. They lost 16 students and 5 adults.

The US Nave was in the area and there was an ‘exercise’ going on. So maybe it was an air to air missile with a dummy warhead.

Yes, the Navy is going to deliberately shoot missiles into the most heavily traveled air corridor in the world. Makes perfect sense. </sarcasm>

If he had been listening to G. Gordon Liddy or Quinn and Rose, he would have known that before the calendar flipped to 1997.

I’m guessing Slick Willy never bothered to visit that memorial for a photo op.

Scumbag in Chief.

The Iranians had a bunch of US-made air-to-air missiles intended for the F 15. They were built as dual-purpose anti-air weapons to be used on ships as well.
They could easily have used one of these—and having been built in the USA, any remains could REALLY confuse the issue.
I too, believe the El Al plane was the target. Flt 800 was late.

I read recently that the EL Al flight had trouble[s] and take off was delayed. it probably would been at the position of where 800 was if not for the delay.

The altitude is more of a factor then it’s size. Even a small portable missile will bring down a 747 if it damages the wing when it hits fuel or other major component.

However it takes a big missile to reach that altitude.

For those who didn’t go to the source, Cooper apologized for “misspeaking” at the end of the show.

The CIA’s theory of a “Zoom Climb” is absurd and contradicted by dozens of credible witnesses.

I have wondered why it was a target

This I can tell you. It was a target because the USS Vinncenes shot down Iran Air flight 655 in 1988.

My understanding is that this act was not officially sanctioned by the Iranian government, but was perpetrated by a wealthy family in Iran who had lost relatives when Iran Air flight 655 was shot down. It was revenge, pure and simple.

I can also tell you that Bill Clinton knows the truth, but because he's a coward, he ordered the investigators to make up some other cause. If Bill Clinton had allowed them to tell the truth, we would likely have had a major crises, perhaps war, with Iran.

He figured we shot down one of their's and now they've shot down one of ours, so why don't we just leave it at that?

Any terrorist who chooses is target based on scheduled take-off time has never flown into or out of JFK.

Cooper "got" his mind right an hour or so later:

I just want to correct something I said regarding the plane crash, earlier I said that today was the anniversary of flight TWA 800, crashing off the coast of Long Island in 1996. I believe I said that it was shot down, obviously the government said it was a center fuel tank explosion. Although some people indicated they saw a rocket, there was no evidence of that. It was ruled to be a center fuel tank explosion, so I apologize for misspeaking about that anniversary.
