A local home for children has been asked by the federal government to prepare itself to take in unaccompanied immigrant children from Central America who continue to cross over into the United States.
The United Methodist Home for Children in Mechanicsburg has not taken in any children from Central America yet, and it continues to assist children sent to it from the local county courts systems, the group's Board of Trustees Chairwoman Karen Best said Monday. But the agency has been contacted to prepare itself to provide shelter and care for unaccompanied minors, she said.
The home has been approved to receive an Urgent and Compelling Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide temporary shelter services to unaccompanied children beginning in August, according to the home's President and CEO David Reed.
"We understand the issue of immigration has raised many questions nationally," Reed wrote in an email. "However, in staying true to the Home's history and mission, we are committed to providing a safe and caring environment for any children who, through no fault of their own, are in desperate need of help while explorations are being made for their future."

Why not simply tell the “NO”?
Because: The home has been approved to receive an Urgent and Compelling Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to provide temporary shelter services to unaccompanied children beginning in August, according to the home's President and CEO David Reed. Which means they applied for THE MONEY!
I think citizens in that community should file a lawsuit against the home for receiving stolen private property
I thought they said most of these children were going to be reunited with their parents, that is why they brought them here in the first place..
Harboring another generation of DEMOCRAT voters.
“through no fault of their own” So who’s fault is it? Could it be someone living in the White Hut?
So much for separation of church & state.
Holy Family Institute in Emsworth (outside of Pittsburgh) is also going to take in kids.
What about the homeless & poor kids in PA - its not their fault that they are homesless & poor - why aren’t they helping those kids first.
Are the contagious disease free? You have a lot of other kids already at that home, that have to be PROTECTED from the germs, viruses, and uncountable diseases these kids are carrying. Many take weeks to incubate and become harmful.
Trying to spread a Medical PANDEMIC across the USA is Treason. Not humanitarian relief.
Pack them on a bus with a 1 way ticket to Mexico City!Cut off aid to Mexico too.
Children’s hospital, you say? How young do you have to be to qualify as a child?
Ping!
Oh, now Obama needs the church.
The children are the tip of the spear and point of the bayonet, watch out how you respond....
So the kids get dumped on yet another reliably Blue state without a competative Senate race this year.
In related news the Administration is stating unequivocably that it will NOT be sending the kids to Ft Knox KY. Which certainly has the room to house them and is pretty well isolated. But would also guarantee a Mitch McConnell walkover victory against Grimes in November.
LOL! If everybody did that, then how would the Democrat-RINO fraud alliance operate?
There are always two sides to a story, AND to process-halting litigation. I say use the Democrats’ own process against them.
By democrat definition, I believe up to 26 qualifies as a “child”.
Of course, they view everyone as children requiring their enlightened guidance to live their lives.
