UNITED NATIONS -- Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will leave Saturday for the Middle East to help mediate the conflict in Gaza between Israel and Hamas, a U.N. official said Friday.
Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Jeffrey Feltman also said at a U.N. Security Council emergency meeting on the conflict in Gaza that a ceasefire is "indispensable" for urgently needed humanitarian efforts to succeed. He said the U.N. refugee agency was already stretched to its limit.
The Palestinian U.N. ambassador threatened to go to U.N. and international courts, which would likely include the International Criminal Court, if the Security Council doesn't act to protect Palestinian civilians from Israeli attack and end the conflict in Gaza.
Riyad Mansour said that Israel's "savage" aggression into Gaza "cannot be justified by any means."
"It is not self-defense," he said. "It is a vengeful military aggression intentionally planned and perpetrated by the occupying power on the civilian population under its occupation."
Mansour said the Israeli campaign is designed to destroy "Palestinian unity and collapse of the national consensus government."
Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor said Hamas was using ambulances filled with children "to move their terrorists around Gaza."
He said Hamas "lives by violence and celebrates death. I want to be clear, our forces are fighting in Gaza, but they are not fighting the people of Gaza."

Peace through Parchment!
Well ... I wouldn’t put any relevancy on that ... :-) ... He’s not that charismatic to take over the world ... LOL ...
There’s no peace plan here ... it will simply be to get Hamas to stop firing rockets, which I really don’t think is going to happen. AND ... if the rocket fire doesn’t stop, it’s better for Israel, since that will give them more time in Gaza.
Kind of like a intruder wildly emptying an AK-47 in your house then complaining when you fire a single 9mm that hits home.
The thing about their nutty propaganda is that it’s clear to the rest of the world that Israel does not target the Palestinian population indiscriminately and that Hamas is the cause of all this. It’s even apparent to the ARAB world too ... in their own newspapers. What you’re listening to here is PAID LIARS as spokesmen ... and nothing more.
Good luck with that.
Heres a running account of news reports related to these recent events with Israel and Hamas. If you want to catch up on the news accounts ... they are here ...

Israels UN Ambassador Says There Are More Hamas Missiles at UNRWA Facilities
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3182159/posts
A day after UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, admitted that it had discovered 20 Hamas rockets at one of its schools, Israels UN Ambassador said he was certain that more such facilities housed Hamas weaponry.
Yesterday, UNRWA admitted that it mysteriously found 20 missiles in one of its schools, Ambassador Ron Prosor said on Friday in an emergency Security Council session on Gaza. Im sure that if UNRWA takes the time to check its other facilities, it will discover that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Hamas is using UN facilities to commit a double war crime by targeting Israeli civilians while hiding behind Palestinian civilians.
His comments came the morning after Israeli forces entered Gaza in an expansion of Israels Operation Protective Edge aimed at ending rocket fire against civilians.
In his extensive remarks, outlining Israels position on the conflict with Hamas, Prosor also said that it was time for the international community to face the consequences of its failed policies regarding the Gaza based terror group.
Perhaps he can fly over Ukraine on the way there...
I saw a correction on the timing for his visit. Instead of this Saturday (today) ... it’s next Saturday.
