The Barbour Machine’s Mississippi Ad War
National Review ^ | July 18, 2014 | Eliana Johnson

Even in the bitterly fought primary battle between Mississippi senator Thad Cochran and his challenger, state senator Chris McDaniel, some of the radio ads that aired against McDaniel were considered especially incendiary. One charged that a McDaniel victory would set back “race relationships between blacks and whites and other ethnic groups.” Another warned that his campaign was part of an attempt to “roll back the hand of time.”

The political-action committee that aired the ads raised eyebrows from the outset.

If I lived in MS I would vote for the Democratic Senate candidate in November. The GOPe needs to be taught a hard lesson. If they do not they will play the same race baiting playbook again and again.

They tried to vote out the RINO but got screwed by the establishment.

I wouldn't vote for the Democrat; however there's no way I would vote for Thad in the general. I'd vote for the Libertarian or write in McDaniel's name if I lived in MS.

The GOP-e has soiled the party nest big-time with this odious stunt.

It remains to be seen whether the Republican rank-and-file will let them get away with it.

Couldn’t agree more.

Until we teach them a severe lesson, we will only be made to believe we have any real power while not actually having any. And, no, one or two nice District Primary wins is not power.

The “difference” between Reid and McConnell is the speed at which they are destroying us with overspending and higher debt, the style of Obamacare we will have etc. etc.

Ben Carson did a phone message recently saying O-Care needs to be “replaced” which is code for Romneycare.....

The GOPe is perfectly fine handing the RAT b@st@rds a seat. Don’t play that game!

Voting for a democrat is almost always a bad idea. Don’t do it, vote third party (in that slot) instead.

Hailey Barbour is loyal only to himself and the insiders from the beltway. While he leads people to believe he is working for right side politics he's working to put hundreds of millions into the hands of Terry McAuliffe for a green car scam that spits the money out the back side and makes them both richer.

The GOPe needs to be taught a hard lesson. If they do not they will play the same race baiting playbook again and again.

They can't do this in states that have closed primaries. Mississippi should adopt that system.

I do live in Miss. and Thad can go pee up a rope this Fall.
Forget vote fraud, forget race-baiting ads, forget Cochran’s refusal to debate McDaniel (if in fact he’s still capable of cogent thought). The Republican primary was so Republicans could choose their representative in the November elections. The operative word here is “Republicans”. After he trailed McDaniel June 3 he begged the state Democrats to save his political butt. God only know what deal he cut to get their support, but get it he did. His democrat allies came to his rescue, and it is to them he now owes much.
Bottom line-our “Republican” candidate was chosen by Democrats with the blessings of the RNC. If it had been Republicans alone making the choice McDaniel would’ve won. Period. The actions of Cochran and the RNC make a mockery of the word “representative”, and I will NOT go along with this blatant theft. As for those who think this is sour grapes just remember, if the poker game is crooked, it doesn’t matter if there’s no other game in town, you get out of it. And that’s just what I’m doing this Fall...

If McDaniel fails to get justice on this, he should endorse and work for Shawn O’Hara. Wouldn’t it be something if all the conservatives that voted for McDaniel turn and vote for the Reform Party and defeat Cochran?

Reform Party is H. Ross Perot: I don’t think we need that. MS gave H. Ross Perot one of his worst showings.
