MSNBC's Krystal Ball was the victim of a phone prank by a Howard Stern fan pretending to be a member of the U.S. military in Ukraine who witnessed the Malaysian Airlines flight 117 crash.
"Well, I was looking out the window and I saw a projectile flying in the sky and it would appear the plane was shot down by a blast of wind from Howard Stern's ass," the man said.
"So it would appear the plane was shot down, can you tell us anything more from your military training of sort of missile system that may have been coming from?" Ball asked.
"Well, you're a dumbass aren't you?" the caller replied.
After an awkward pause, MSNBC went to a commercial break. Ball explained what happened when she returned to the air, "We thought we had an eyewitness on the scene. That individual was not actually an eyewitness."
Ironic that somebody named Krystal Ball didn't see that coming.
Where was Al Michaels to save the day? /sarc.

As I recall there was a particular fan of Stern who specialized in such prank calls. I think he called himself Captain Janks.
The best is when Larry King was interviewing Prince Charles and this guy called up in a proper English accent, “Hello Prince Charles, I am a huge fan and I must say I am an Earl and an OBE, which makes me an Earlobe..”

I remember when a HS fan punked a newsie live on the air on the night Princess Diana died. Passed himself off very professionally, right up to the point that he said they were speeding trough the tunnel “to get to a video store before they closed so they could get a copy of Howard Stern’s ‘Private Parts’”.
I do not remember the network it happened on.

I never liked Howard Stern, but I love it when these callers get through! Even HE was shocked @ how dumb she is.
Krystal is the genius who read Orwell’s ANIMAL FARM and thought it was an indictment of capitalism.

I not a fan of PMSNBC but that was just a juvenile prank and totally uncalled for there is nothing funny about any of todays events
