It’s one thing if hardened critics like Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly ask whether the Obama presidency is “imploding,...”
Or if Republican lobbyist Ed Rogers says Obama “seems to have taken something like an early retirement,”…..[his]recent speeches reveal “a state of mind that suggests he has checked out.”
It is another, however, if the chief U.S. commentator for the Financial Times, Edward Luce, takes Obama to task, as he did this week, in an op-ed titled “Farewell to trust: Obama’s Germany syndrome.”
Luce takes the flap over the CIA spying on an ally like Germany as symptomatic of an administration that has lost the trust of the public both at home and abroad.

No, he has not ‘checked out’. He knows exactly what he is doing. Side-stepping? Maybe but he is still on his destructive course.
On that score, he is fully engaged. And in foreign "policy," he's getting the results he wants, with the ISIS caliphate he no doubt promised to his Saudi supporters who arranged (with money) his candidacy.

I tend to agree mostly. I have a theory on what he is doing though. He is going to so abuse the powers of the presidency that the American people demand that the President’s powers be rolled back. He will leave all future presidents substantially weaker.

Now let’s be fair. If we add up all the time he’s spent on vacations, parties fund raisers and the like, I think we’ll find that after eight years, Øbama will have only “worked” about three years.

The premise is partially correct in that he is no longer even pretending to act “within the system.” That arrears to the illiterati such as the LSM as “checking out” but in fact in reveals a far more insidious course of action. It is just to taxing for him to lower himself to work within mere mortal institutions, so instead he is ruling by degree, as befitting one anointed by the gods (or a megalomaniacal narcissist, whichever comes first).
Valerie Jarrett, Eric Holder and Michelle Obama are actively engaged in the destruction of the country since they are the terrible trio running things in D.C. Obama agrees with all of it, of course, but he is instead using his second term to boost his frequent flyer miles.
