I listened to part of the President's speech at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas, given last Thursday (July 10, 2014) on the radio as I drove to Lockhart. One part of his speech leapt out at me and I haven't heard or read of anyone commenting on this particular quote.
"When I think about equal pay, I think about my grandmother working her way up at a bank with nothing but a high school education and becoming the vice president of the bank, but always being kind of passed over for the next stage by men who were less qualified than she was."
Did you catch that? When Barack Obama was a kid, his grandmother rose to become a vice-president at the bank she worked for with "nothing more" than a high school education"but always being kind of passed over for the next stage by men who were less qualified than she was."
Wait a minute: was there a succession of men with no high school education who glad-handed their way past her to higher posts? Bank president, for example?
Clearly the bank recognized her abilityeven if "all" she had was a high school educationto promote her to a VP position. Is it me? Or did he belittle the achievement of his grandmother?

It’s funny that Obama would complain about qualified people being passed over to promote unqualified ones. LOL
Once again, FReepers remind me and fill in the gaps of my knowledge. I forgot precisely when his mother died. But I did remember that his grandparents were responsible guardians for much of his upbringing. It seems to me, and the line he gave in Austin underscored it for me, he never quite gives them all the credit they deserve.
You’re right there! Your observation reminds of the political cartoon that went around during the 2008 campaign that had caricatures of McCain, Biden, and Obama not even knee-high to Palin’s legs. And the title of the cartoon was “Executive Experience.”
***he never quite gives them all the credit they deserve.***
Of course not! He takes credit for things he didn’t earn, and blames others when it’s his own fault. Why should he treat his grandparents any differently? He is a narcissist to the nth degree!
Whenever it is expedient to his career, he has had no trouble throwing people under the bus. Grandmother Dunham is one of many.
Like some of Hilary’s stories....
Obama is a dink. How on earth was he elected president?
“How on earth was he elected president?”

It’s that “Magic Negro” mystique.
.
Also, a bank has a million vice presidents.

That is true. Back in my headhunting days we used to call them Vice-presidents of the left hand side of the building.
By being black, a pansy and panderer, and willing to lie, cheat, steal and kill to get what he wants.
