Nationalist Knesset Members expressed outrage on Monday night over Egypt’s proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, which the Cabinet is to vote on early Tuesday morning.
Diplomatic officials said that the Egyptian proposal would return the situation on the ground to the state it was before Operation Protective Edge, but with a Hamas that is much weaker than before.
Officials close to Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett said he would vote against the ceasefire.
Housing Minister Uri Ariel (Jewish Home) told Channel 2 News that the ceasefire proposal is “very bad. I hope the reports are not correct and if they are, this is a disaster.”
Minister Ariel stressed that the ceasefire would endanger Israeli citizens. "It won’t be long before Hamas will grow stronger, smuggle more elaborate rockets and open fire again,” he warned.
Asked how he believes Israel should act now, he responded that the operation must continue, “including ground entry. We need to finish the job. Doing half a job is worse than doing nothing.”
Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon (Likud) said that a ceasefire at this point would be a "slap in the face" to the residents of the south, who were willing to pay a heavy price in return for Israel dealing a significant blow to Hamas.
“No cosmetics will be able to beautify this serious mistake,” he said.

At the time that Israel returned control of the Sinai to Egypt, it should have insisted that Egypt also absorb Gaza into Egypt. Of course, Egypt did not, and does not, want a bunch of Palestinian trouble makers, but I suspect they would have accepted Gaza in order to get Sinai back.
Now, Egypt has its own internal challenges with the Muslim Brotherhood to resolve. Just the same, I doubt that Egypt would put with with Hamas or Hesbollah for a NY minute.
Where did he ever get that idea? Maybe because it's EXACTLY what they have done for 1400 years?

Back then, Ghaza wasn’t yet made Judenrein, so Begin couldn’t throw it in. Maybe some Palis will integrate into Egyptian society, stop calling themselves Palis, and actually do something constructive. Off chance, but it beats any other option presently available.

Israel wants ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO with administering the Palestinians in Gaza and controlling the civil government. And Egypt wants absolutely nothing to do with it for basically the same reasons as Israel ... :-) ...

Israel eliminates Hamas, keeps Gaza and builds their own resort hotels, beaches and tourist areas.
The “Palestinians” ARE Hamas as they elected them. They have committed serious acts of war against Israel, and they deserve to pay the price of defeat...and forfeiture of that bit of real estate.
The surviving Gazian refugees would need to seek asylum wherever they can find it...maybe in the concentration camps of Jordan.
They want to kill Israelis because they’re Jooos! They’ll want to kill Egyptians because they’re not Muslim enough. But then, Egypt will want to kill them because they’re MB.
Hamas is the majority party in the Palestinian National Authority. Much of the world recognizes them as a legitimate government, or at least pretends to.
Israel needs to forget about cease-fires.
In today’s world, any leader who advocated eliminating civilians in some kind if “ethnic cleansing” or “mass killings” and actually carried that out — would be captured and tried and convicted of crimes against humanity. I’m afraid your “Joshua” would be in jail in our Western society ... and for good reason, from the precedent established with the Nuremberg Trials.

It’s pretty much this way ... Hamas in Gaza, the Palestinian Authority in Judea and Samaria (i.e., the West Bank). The P.A. and Hamas are enemies; they kill each other. Hamas gained control over Gaza a while back and kicked the PA out of there.
Even Egypt recognizes that the PA and Hamas are different. Egypt wants Abbas and the PA to control the Gaza/Egypt border and NOT Hamas. Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood have worked together, and Egypt wants nothing to do with either of them (Hamas or the Muslim Brotherhood).
In the beginning when Hamas was first formed, Israel actually supported Hamas (under the surface) in order to provide an offset to Arafat and the PLO (the forerunner to the PA). But Israel realized their mistake and stopped helping Hamas after a while. Now Israel wishes they had never helped Hamas in the first place.
And lastly, the Palestinian Authority does not launch rockets into Israel. Hamas does and does so from Gaza and not Palestinian Authority territory. The Israeli reserve forces are not lined up around the Palestinian Authority territories, but they are lined up close to Gaza. Those forces are not going to invade Palestinian Authority territory, but they are preparing to invade Gaza.
I hope that clears some of it up for you ...
There are two problems with that ... one of which is that one can’t force another country to take people in, when they don’t want to. And it’s been made clear that they don’t want to.
The other problem is that any country who forces any mass migration of a population out of an area in their military control is committing a war crime.

In addition to the above, Israel has already entered into peace treaties with Jordan and Israel in which they have committed to recognizing these Palestinians in these territories - PLUS - the legal documents and treaties they’ve signed and agreed to through all their governments and Prime Ministers for the last twenty years committing Israel to coming to a final agreement forming a Palestinian State.
You’re a bit “out of date” with the legal documents and treaties that Israel has “committed itself to” ... I would say about 20+ years “out of date” ... :-) ...

The Palestinian Authority doesn’t control or run Gaza and Hamas doesn’t control or run the West Bank (Judea and Samaria). They are sectioned off in each area.
Israel doesn’t deal with or talk to Hamas, but it does deal with and talk to the Palestinian Authority.
They are two different animals ... :-) ...
Wish it were that simple. Hamas and Fatah have now formed a unity government, which means that they have joint control of both Ghaza and the PA-controlled territory. How that works as a practical matter, I can only guess. Many towns in the PA have elected local Hamas-dominated govenments, and they would probably win a PA-wide election. The IDF does not need to invade PA territory, because Areas C and B are already garrisoned with IDF soldiers. They would have to invade Area A, where only Palis live, but unless they start firing rockets from those areas, the most they will do is an incursion to capture a wanted terrorist or confiscate weapons, or in the recent case, look for the bodies of victims.
I don't think he had very good luck with any of those arguments and he's probably glad he died before they could convict him ... :-) ...
That agreement is “in name only” as neither wants to give up control of their areas to the other. And I’ll guarantee you Israel is not going to allow Hamas any toe-hold in the West Bank ... :-) ...
The reason why that had to be “papered over” to pretend that there is a common government is that they (the Palestinian Authority) can’t say that they speak for all Palestinians when Hamas says that they are the only government in Gaza.
SO ... it’s a sham document, meant to carry political weight in the world environment, while “at home” ... it makes no practical difference at all.
Of course, that sham agreement does give Israel plenty of political ammunition to back off any further cooperation and progress in the negotiations with the Palestinian Authority while that “paper document” of the Unity Agreement” is still being used by the PA.
Toe-hold in Judah and Samaria? They own entire municipalities. If the IDF could eliminate the local governments in these towns, they would. But Dubya made everyone recognize them as a political party and allow their participation in elections, not just in Ghaza but in Judah and Samaria. Not one of his better ideas.
