Why am I not surprised to hear of this being a common occurrence among the tribal societies of the Middle East? Encouraged to make disciples of young men, the most obvious method to tightly bind the youth emotionally is to take complete domination, including the most intimate of thoughts and moments. The man-boy thing is no shock to anyone who served in Afghanistan. I was told about it in briefings when I arrived in country. Given that men live in almost total isolation from women, is it surprising that the whole country starts to look like a prison population?
