Days after Chicago marked a violent Fourth of July weekend, Gov. Pat Quinn and U.S. Rep. Robin Kelly reiterated their support for tighter gun laws.
Ive seen firsthand the devastation caused by this violence, Quinn said at a news conference Sunday, a block from where Tonya Gunn, 44, was shot to death last week in the Morgan Park neighborhood.
The latest push comes on the heels of an especially bloody weekend, in which 13 people were killed and at least 58 wounded in shootings across the city.
Quinn and Kelly urged the passage of a bill in the Illinois General Assembly the Illinois Public Safety Act that would ban assault weapons; put a limit on high-capacity ammunition; and expand background checks for prospective gun buyers.

howmuch GUN CONTROL can you get to remove GUNS from CRIMINALS?
Every time I see one of those maps of Chicago, I find the neighborhood where my dad grew up.
That area was heavily German and Polish, but it is now controlled by the Gangster Disciples, and he went to high school in an area controlled by the Black Disciples.
The Germans and Poles wisely moved out long ago.
“I wonder if theyve considered passing a law that prohibits shooting people.”
If it saves one child!
Sounds like common sense gun control to me!
Public hangings is the solution. We have become a nation of cowards, content to live in fear rather than demanding justice. Chicago is a cesspool.
Meanwhile, in towns with less than 10k population and a much higher gun ownership ratio, across the whole country,
no one was shot, and the injuries involved fireworks and alcohol.
Was it Chicago or Detroit, or both, whose black democrat power structure intentionally ran out the white people?
“Quinn and Kelly urged the passage of a bill in the Illinois General Assembly the Illinois Public Safety Act that would ban assault weapons; put a limit on high-capacity ammunition; and expand background checks for prospective gun buyers.”
How many of the shootings this last weekend would have been prevented had this bill already been law?
I would bet “none”. And I would win that bet.
Can I be far off? Gun control only impacts the law abiding.
