Chelsea Clinton is regularly paid sums as high as $75,000 to speak at events on behalf of the Clinton Foundation, it was revealed today.
A spokesperson for Clinton told the New York Times that 'the majority of Chelsea’s speeches are unpaid.' But when she is paid, the spokesperson, Kamyl Bazbaz, said, '100 percent of the fees are remitted directly to the foundation.'
The youngest member of the Clinton family doesn't attract as much cash for her speeches as her high-profile parents, who frequently charge $200,000 or more per appearance, but she is paid at a significantly higher rate than other political figures.
The New York Times estimates that former Florida Governor Jeb Bush makes $50,000 a speech, and the news organization said former secretaries of state Colin Powell and Madeleine Albright are known to charge roughly the same amount.
Chelsea Clinton does not get paid for her work as vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, a spokesman said, nor does she keep the money she receives for speaking on the foundation's behalf
The 34 year old's only known income is the $50,000 a month she receives from NBC for appearing on the network infrequently as a special correspondent. She received a salary of $600,000 in her role at the network last year and is now on a month-to-month contract as she prepares to have her first child.
According to her Clinton Foundation biography, she also serves on the boards of the School of American Ballet, Common Sense Media, the Africa Center and the Weill Cornell Medical College and is the Co-Chair of the Advisory Board of the Of Many Institute at New York University.
How much she is paid - if anything - for her contributions to those organizations is unknown.

IIRC the young Hubbell couple bought their first apt in the Flatiron Building that year as well. As a NYC-er you know that income is more important than assets in such deals. Fame of course helps, even second hand at times.
Of course now they have that $10 million plus pied-a-terre which will require her decorating imprint, costs unknown.
The only surprise is that Chels has become highly visible just at this moment.

You know, 'do good' in Africa, set up a 'foundation' to put tax-free income in, then employ everyone in our family and give them LARGE tax-free travel around the world to research 'doing good'... and not have to use our own retirement money to travel?

Thanks for your point of view. She is not only paying off old debts she is pushing forward Saudi interest (like our Republicans) in exchange for lots of money. I only hope she hangs by the rope that has been extended to her.
I remember living in that world you speak of... the one where the IRS investigated people 'doing wrong' rather than political enemies of the thugs in power. Seems so long ago...
