almart has apologized after being alerted by customers that it was selling a poster depicting the Nazi concentration camp Dachau, which was advertised online as a great addition to your home or office.

I know it was a horrible place. I just thought that when I visited it looked very antiseptic.
Napl?
Title fixed.
Sadly in 10 years or so we may not be able to find any of these living memorials to man's atrocities.
Damn .....
“Sadly in 10 years or so we may not be able to find any of these living memorials to man’s atrocities.”
Sadly, I think they will still be around. Not the Jews from Nazi Germany, but countless other events such as Pol Pot, Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, etc. Although they don’t seem to get the “press” that the Jews get. I’m not sure why.
Perhaps because the survivors aren’t the “right” color. Or perhaps there are so few survivors. Or perhaps because the West let those people down. It is one thing to remember the Jews who we rescued, and another to remember the killing fields in Cambodia which in some part may have been a result of our failed efforts in Vietnam. (Or Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.)
Amen, but I was specifically speaking about WWII Holocaust survivors.
Yep - I know. And those that stopped it are also quickly passing on. My dad was in the war and died years ago. My mom just passed away last fall. My daughter wanted to interview her on what she recalled of the Holocaust. My mom said that she recalls hearing a bit about it at the time, but it didn’t make big news back then. My mom said my daughter knew more about it than she did!
She went back home and he and I kept talking. He told me that there was a lot of stuff he couldn't tell her and even more he could not talk about ever.
I never pressed the issue because I had seen that same look in my fathers eyes when he talked about the Korean war.
I often wonder if our Country still has the character to pull together to put down an oppressive tyrant like that again.
If you’re constructing your own Holocaust memorial, maybe!
They could do the wax museum thing there, I suppose. But there would be a huge furor as to whether this was disrespectful to the people who suffered and perished there.
“Arbeit macht frei” is actually an alternate IRS motto, isn’t it?
It is amazing what those guys went through, and then to come back and be leaders in society as well. I met an old couple and noticed the guy’s Navy tattoo and commented. He sort of grunted. His wife did the talking. She said “Harry was at D-Day.” He grunted. All I could do his shake his hand again.
He did talk a bit when his wife mentioned a Higgin’s Boat (he was the driver) and I surprised him by knowing what it was.
I think that the young people in our military would be up for the challenge again. But our leaders, and the rest of society? Nope.
*snort* Believe so.
Welp. To paraphrase...by their fruits, you will know them.
I don’t know how that applies here, but it surely applies to Obama, and our Crony Capitalistc “friends” .
With friends like that...
...who needs enemas?
