Good Morning To The Canteen
Thank you for the Road Trip, laurenmarlowe.
I really enjoyed this...ended up reading the history of the USS Yorktown.
I also found a connection to my husband's ship, the USS Bexar.
Yorktown provided cover for the evacuation of the Tachen Islands in
Feb 1955...My husband had never seen such desperate people as
those civilians his ship had crammed aboard on deck. Over 28, 000
Nationalist troops and civilians were evacuated to safety from the
Communist Chinese govt.

Thanks for the ping very interesting history of your hubby's service.
My Uncle was on a destroyer in WW11, it was torpedoed and the hit was very near my Uncle's office. He was not injured Thanks be to GOD.
