HOUMA, La. -- A Houma man gunned down an early morning visitor because the victim banged on a neighbor's door and woke him, police said. It happened in the 8000 block of Big Cypress Street. Ray Carlos, 58, of Big Cypress Street yelled at the man who awoke him by banging on an across-the-street neighbor's door at 3 a.m., confronted him outside and fired a single shot that hit the victim in the head, killing him instantly, Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis said.

Grumpy old man.
In before the predictable “ this guy shouldn’t have done this because it makes all us gun owners look bad’ Crowd.
There’s some people you don’t want to wake up.
This psycho should serve out his days in prison.
“fired a single shot that hit the victim in the head”
Nice shooting
Was this guy on “Swamp People” the other week? There’s some crazy “Good-Old-Boyz” on that program!
A man in very ill “Houma.”
3AM: Sunday; “Don’t you EVAH wake me up for this HORSESH#T again! Got you it now?”
3PM: Sunday:”OMG! Is THAT what happened? That wasn’t me! I was Astrally Projecting my image from my left lower Chakras.”
In very hot Houma too, please Duplantis body a.s.a.p.
I thought that was the name of The Defender of Benghazi’s muslim brotherhood chief-of-staff.
That’s the first thing I thought of, too....Hillary’s gal pal.
The two from Houma that starred on Swamp People were father & son team, RJ and J Paul...guess this guy took "choot em" to heart...
There were probably angry words exchanged before the bullet ended it.
I suspect what really happened was that the ex-boyfriend had been abusive and threatening, and the ex-girlfriend told her neighbor that she was terrified that he would kill her.
So ex-boyfriend shows up at 3am, likely three sheets to the wind, and is banging on her door and screaming. Her neighbor gets his gun and tells him to take off. Then the drunk hurls abuse and threats at neighbor, before “advancing on him in a threatening manner.”
Bang.
N.B.: that it was a head shot is important. If it was from behind, it was clearly murder. If it was from the front, it was likely an arm up aimed shot, because a head shot from the hip is quite hard or lucky. It also implies that the drunk could see the gun and still advanced.
That exact situation crossed my mind as well and i would fully expect the ex girlfriend of the dead guy to testify to exactly those chain of events.
Chief-of-strap-on-staff.
That’s a really bad cop out! First of all was Ray able to read James’ mind to know why he was there this time? Could have been a complete different reason then the first time.
Ray should have kept himself in the safety of his house instead of waltzing around outside with a loaded weapon!!! Does he not know how to dial 911!?!
Now Ray needs to be the big man that trying to be when he shot a man to death and deal with the consequences!! I hope that means prison time.

“Last month, Rube told friends that he planned to leave Louisiana and return to Iowa, where he had once lived, “as long as my parole officer will allow me.”
“Police confirmed that Rube was charged in connection with a 2008 drive-by shooting, but authorities did not have immediate details.
“The guy got in his face,” Mary Carlos said. “Ray thought he had a weapon. Ray was in his yard, inside his fence, there is a chain that was locked and he was right up against the fence when he shot this guy. He shot the guy from about 3 feet away.”
Isn’t it a shame that James can’t return to Iowa because Ray shot him dead. James served his time in 2008 and looks like he was serving his parole like he was suppose to. If police had been called and James was in violation of his parole he would be in jail right now, alive, and Ray would be labeled a hero.
I don’t know Ray and I don’t know James either. From everything I have read Ray should have stayed inside his house and called 911. Instead Ray is now facing life in prison because HE CHOOSE to go outside, with a gun, at 3:00am when there was a man across the street banging on someone else’s door; not Ray’s door someone else’s door.
Sure Ray’s gun protected him, that’s great. Yay for the gun! James is dead and Ray, wether in prison or not in prison, will always have this hanging over his head. A complete waste of two lives, not to mention what it’s doing to both of their families.
