21-year-old Victoria from Kiev region, which friends called for fearlessness Wild, half a year has gone from Єvromaydana to participate in the fighting. Now Vick is fighting in the Lugansk region in the battalion "Idar", which was established in May 2014 and is subordinate to the Ministry of Defence. The battalion became famous during the fighting over the northern and central regions of Luhansk oblast, in particular during the liberation of the city of happiness, when the battalion destroyed 58 militants. Shortly after the interview, she went back to the war at Donbass,. The girl asked not to call her name, not to worry relatives - How did you get into "Idar"?
-From the early days was on the independence, Maidan, first as a volunteer in the kitchen. After the events at Hrushevskogo went to the 39th 100 self-defense. Then voluntarily mobilized in "Aydar".
"Aydar" generally formed as a battalion of volunteers from the Maidan, so many were there right from Maidana without even visiting home. Gathered hundreds of friends who have visited before in the fights on the Maidan, have lived here for about six months. Most people do not want to go into battalions, which are subordinate to the Interior Ministry.
-Who serves in the battalion?
80 percent - is from the Maidan, another 20 - transferred from other military units operating current military personnel. There are people who have fought before, were in Afghanistan, Iraq. There are successful managers and businessmen.
Geographically, "Aydar" represents the whole of Ukraine. We have guys from Crimea, where some 20 percent of the Lugansk region. They even laugh, that they are "reversed" Lugansk.
Girls in the little battalion. They are all from the Maidan, a native of many eastern provinces. In general, working on staff positions or medical units. - Who provides you necessary: ammunition, food?
The Ministry of Defence gives almost nothing. All that we bring, collect from people who stayed on the Maidan. They are coordinating, collecting food, money, buy everything and bring here. With local, very helpful- anyone that can bring vegetables, bread.-
We also were provided vests Maidan, body armor, bulletproof vests of Ukrdoma now even more volunteers help us. Volunteers buy uniforms, shoes at their own expense or, again, the money raised by volunteers.
The weapons we have been waiting for a month. The battalion was provided 30% with arms, while the rest waiting. The problem is that the weapons is issued to the military when that person already has [a weapon.] We first went there, then we were given. But, even now, 20% had not yet come. Mainly because of bureaucracy. .
For example, a man came from the Crimea, and in order to get a response to a request from the military enlistment office, need an answer to a request from the recruiting office, which is located in the occupied territory. Same story with volunteers from Lugansk Donetsk region or from the cities occupied by terrorists. Then it turns out that the guys coming home wounded or, God forbid, "200-m weight", and officially - they are one, they were just volunteers. We're not even an official participant ATO, although conduct joint operations.
- How did you include the local population?
-How to you local population?
- Local, we have become accustomed to, so it is much quieter. In Starobilsk and other localities where we were, most of the population of Ukraine. But they are very afraid of local separatists. Such people, the separatists ' thrown Molotov cocktails through the Windows. We are approached by local that quietly say: "Glory to Ukraine!".
With the peaceful local population we have no conflicts. There were armed conflicts with local militants and terrorists from Russia. For example, when they tried to disrupt elections in novojdar.
- What exactly are you doing?
All. Most of the time I spend in the headquarters: prepare documentation, every evening prepare for the guys creditable news about what is happening in the country. But, in the kitchen more mens work than women because need the power to cope with heavy dishes, large field kitchens. After one shift in the kitchen when you have to wash all those large kettles, you still can't straighten or bend the back for a long time.
If any emergency situation, bring the wounded, then I help the doctor in the emergency room. We have a small home-made operational. Drugs now in short supply. Almost all medicines from the Maidan.
In most operations battalion girls involved. Voluntarily. If I don't want to, but no one goes to leave at checkout. But in General, we do not have any form of discrimination. All that man can do, the girls are doing.
- You took some training? - When a company is formed of volunteers formalized, it necessarily passes combat coordination - training.
- When a company is formed of volunteers formalized, it necessarily passes combat coordination - training. Already there, in Luhansk: learn to shoot, tactics, working in pairs, etc. In addition, experience with the comrades who have served and fought, and teach those who first took up arms.
- What do you find the most difficult for a girl in everyday terms?
- I knew where I was going and that there will not be luxury apartments.
- What is your relationship in the battalion?
- Men first say: "Why are you pushing, why do you need this?" Treated as a sister, even as mom. But, they come as a psychologist, to share what has become painful for them, to talk, to say what you cannot always say to another man. It is easier to talk to me.
- What most impressed you in there?
- When we were lying in wait, and we are already shooting separatists, we began to shout "Glory to Ukraine!" These words, they were afraid/scared as hell incense. In response, we heard "What the ... Ukraine?!" We reversed them [Bandera.] It's one thing when the Russian mercenaries who come to a foreign land to fight for the money, but these [Nazi] separatists in their own land take a weapon to fight againstukraiians, and then their children and wives send for safety in Kiev.
- What was the worst during the fight?
- During combat, you do not feel fear. I only know that the prisoner will not surrender alive. There are our people in captivity, about which we know nothing. Do not even know if they are alive. Our motto is "Aydar": "could fight and return home alive.
- How are your relatives relate to what are you doing?
- My mother was very upset. Most of our soldiers did not even tell their families where they are, but my mom got a call from the village council and was told. Now she calls me every day, crying, asking me to return. It's hard to explain, it's my duty. We're all here to ask ourselves the question: "If not me, then who?".
- Why did you come to Kiev and decided to come back?
- I came to the defense of a diploma. Also received two shrapnel wounds in battle on June 17 and had to be treated in hospital. I will do the paperwork for theguys. And then - go back. Now I cannot leave my friends.
- What will you do when the war is over?
- Son I gave. Will engage in public activities. May remain to serve in the army. GOOGLE
“Idar,” more like “R&R.”
Um, no offense UMCMom, but what is the point of these stories about women in the military? If women are so good at combat, why are there not any all female units on the front lines in any conflict?
And I don’t believe anything being reported about the Ukraine. I don’t see why the Russian speaking people in the east can’t be part of Russia if that is what they want.
The first casualty of war is the truth.
All they want is freedom to choice their own path. Americans should be the first to understand that.
I wonder what will happen to them if they’re ever captured? As an aside, I guess this indicates we’re not the only nation suffering from the Romney/Sununu attitude (that is...leave it to the other guy...or gal) toward military service.
Here's a simple solution for you.
If they want to be part of Russia then they should move to Russia.
They’re fighting battles. That’s not R&R.
Good question, but tell me, why does everyone prattle on about democracy when one elected leader is deposed by a mob, then another election is invalidated, because the “wrong” side won, and somehow this is good?
Let them solve their own problems.
“Theyre fighting battles. Thats not R&R.”
It’ll be R&R, or more like I&I when some of them get captured. But I give them credit for guts.
Although what I see looks good, Mom—I find it impossible to reach judgment without more evidence.
Don’t you have any photographs of these soldiers in bikini swimsuits, thongs and summer dresses?
I never suggested ethnic cleansing. If you don’t understand the logical difference between the forced removal based on ethnicity and the voluntary movement to another country then there is no getting through to you.
I have posted in the past. There are MANY ethnic Russians that want to be Ukrainian and NOT Russian. The videos were made because Putin disinformation declared there was discrimination which they SOUNDLY denied.
The Separatists are mainly hired mofia thugs & mercenaries.
Are you ready to fight when they get ready to haul your
butt to a concentration camp?
If not you, then who will come and fight for you?
I admire these women who are standing up for their
country.....
Here in this country the USA, the country that I have served and loved, and proud to be called American, and have respected those men that fought and died for my freedom...
just remember when sh!t hits the fan and come your way, and don’t look to the next guy to help you. He/she may not be there.
Funny how the Russian-speakers in Ukraine didn’t get antsy until Putin stuck his nose in it.
If you’re going to have battalions in bikinis, then do it right. Pit the women in the IDF in a photoshoot with the Aydar of the Ukraine. Make a calendar with the 6 best of each force, and use the sales to buy decent weapons for these women warriors.
“... if not me, then who?”
who is on which side of what, here?
