Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has called on the country's remaining white farmers to cede land to black people.
"We say no to whites owning our land and they should go," Mr Mugabe told his supporters at a rally.
The white farmers union said it was regrettable that racial tensions were flaring up again.
The president's critics say his policy of seizing most of Zimbabwe's white-owned farms caused the country's economic collapse from 2000-2009.
Mr Mugabe, 90, has governed Zimbabwe since independence in 1980.
He was re-elected president last year with 61% of the vote, defeating his long-standing rival Morgan Tsvangirai.
The president's Zanu-PF party also gained a parliamentary majority of more than two-thirds, winning 160 of the 210 seats.
BBC Zimbabwe analyst Stanley Kwenda says Mr Mugabe's comments are surprising, as the government officially ended its land reform programme about two years ago.
It appears that Mr Mugabe wants to deflect attention from Zimbabwe's economic crisis, especially worsening unemployment and the closure of firms, our correspondent says.

Isn’t it amazing that a doddering evil idiot like Mugabe can hold sway over millions at the age of 90? It gives me a very cynical and pessimistic view of past and future history.

History has always been important to keep in kind when it comes to South Afrika.
The Dark Continent was never short of a multitude of tribal influences, add the european incursions and taming of the lands and associated ‘exploitations’, not to mention the opportunities for many local to advance from the plains and jungles and join a civilized world based on more than the law of the jungle and benefit from western civilization’s bounties.
That He was raised a Jesuit speaks volumes to taking the lessons learned and turning them on those who housed and fed you.

I’m amazed there are any white farmers left. He’s been driving them off their land for years. I know that some of the white farmers have been protected by their black employees because the employees know that Mugabe’s way is the way of starvation.

So now. Nothing. Zimbabwe who used to export products is now having to import them but only for the elite. Anyone ever see his “home”???
This has been going on for years. They seized Cathy Buckle’s farm some 14 years ago and she’s still there. She’s been documenting it all along.
