Weird. I was playing “Tie me Kangaroo Down” on my harmonica just an hour ago. Easy to play on the harmonica, by the way.

I remember hearing that song on Dr. Demento back in the 1970s. I always thought it was a stupid song and that Dr. Demento sometimes had to scrape the bottom of the “novelty” barrel to come up with content for his show.

IMO the early to mid teen years are the most dangerous time for a girl in terms of molestation, etc. Most girls of that age are at least starting to look like women but they're too inexperienced to understand the tricks that an older guy can play.I'm sure this clown could have had all then 18 year old girls he wanted yet he went for the underage ones.
Well,that's showbiz.

The Goodies made fun of him a lot.

Darn you, Rolf. You were the voice of Australia for me.
I'd occasionally replay the closing of the Sydney Olympics to hear you and the crowd sing Waltzing Matilda. No more.

Forget it. That was Slim Dusty. I’ll still have Sydney.

I always thought it was a stupid song and that Dr. Demento sometimes had to scrape the bottom of the novelty barrel to come up with content for his show. I remember the song when it was first released...early-mid 60's.It was a big hit here and, presumably, was at least pretty big in Canada,Britain and Australia.I thought it was really fun.It wasn't "Eve of Destruction" or "The Times They Are A Changing"...IT was lighthearted fun.

Sounds like another Jimmy Saville. Only Jimmie died before it came out so didn’t have to face it.
If this guy is guilty, string him up. I can’t think of anything worse than trading an innocent’s
childhood for your own sexual pleasure.

Slim Dusty still remains Oz’s greatest singer of that genre.

I'd occasionally replay the closing of the Sydney Olympics to hear you and the crowd sing Waltzing Matilda. Are you an Aussie...or "former" Aussie? Just curious. The version of Waltzing Matilda I like was done by the Seekers some years back at some big Aussie sporting event. It's on youtube. Also, that very same version is the background music for a tribute to Aussie soldiers who served in Iraq. That, too,is on youtube.Very moving,IMO

“Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport” was a hit in Australia in 1960 and scored in the US three years later. In the summer of 1963, it was far and away the most popular song in our neighborhood.
